It's worse than that I'm afraid. It was declared an icon by the National Trust of Queensland in 2006 (along with the colour maroon, would you believe).
Sometimes I despair of my fellow Queenslanders...

I wonder if those things in the photo are actually made here? I seem to recall seeing toad "artefacts" in Indonesia.

Blaming Indonesia sounds reasonable to me, although I don't know how we're going to duck responsibility for these atrocities:
