Australia

I now have a few pictures on the computer, but don't know how to post them. Can anyone tell me - very simply" - how?

I think the simplest possible way would be for you to email the pictures to me and I'll do the rest.

If you can do this, let me know here and I'll send you a PM with my email address.

That's very kind of you. However, having just looked again at the pictures (which my computer teacher put on the computer yesterday), I realise that I'd have to ask permission of the friends and their properties in the pictures ... ... also there are only 16, not-very-interesting-really photos to choose from! I should have asked people to take more, but I'm not very camera-minded. I'll do better next time!

Last flight of the F-111s...

Never used in combat, but they did come in handy during the Franklin Dam controversy, earning Attorney-General Gareth "Biggles" Evans his nickname. They've been a familiar sight (and sound) over Brisbane for many years, doing dump-and-burn runs over the city for Riverfire, shaking things up with the occasional sonic boom and contributing to "mid-air emergency" news stories.

Kind of sorry to see them go.

More great pics here.

Wow, I've skipped most of this epic-length thread. For us non-Aussies, what should be added to the quintratrafecta of:
In the Wild with Harry Butler,
Sea Patrol,
The Last Continent (by Terry Pratchet),
Adam Hills, and
Natalie Tran?

I thought I would get in early and wish my fellow Australian posters and other friends who visit this thread all the best for Chrissy and the new year.

Christmas fare for tomorrow is:
A shrimp on the barbie (well prawns actually)
Bugs
Calamari
oysters
crocodile
Gummy, for the kids
Ham and cold turkey
Salads, breads and lots of dessert.

That's lunch with the family.

Then I will be off to the rehab for dinner to spread some cheer to those doing it a bit tough this Christmas.

Be safe everyone.

What's "gummy"?

I've never had "bugs" nor gummy (whatever it is; that I know of). And I don't like oysters, but otherwise, it sounds yummy!

No white wine in the sun?

Have a wonderful holiday, whatever it means to you, and however you celebrate it, my upside-down-friends!

Gummy is a type of shark, called flake in Melbourne. Interestingly, nobody in Sydney eats shark.

Bugs are either Balmain Bugs or Morton Bay Bugs, a crustacean. And very tasty.

And best wishes to all as well.

Gummy is Gummy shark or flake. Delicious - the kids love the stuff. Good catching too when I can in Western Port Bay.

Bugs are Morton Bay bugs. Also yummy - will split them and bbq with some chili, garlic and lime.

I will leave the drinking to others; I finished my share years ago.
I'm off to the drug and alcohol rehab in the afternoon/evening, best their counsellor doesn't turn up tipsy or worse. :D
