Australia

Sport is a big part of Australia's cultural traditions and I've been enjoying soaking up as much culture as possible this weekend.

Opera House.

Just a few pics of my own. Included them as links rather than embedded cause they are big so they stretch the page.

Is the first one from Castle Hill?

Close, Thompson's Corner, West Pennant Hills, at the intersection of Pennant Hills Road and Castle Hill Road.

Thompson's Corner brings back some memories. For many years when I was first posted to Queensland I used to ride down to Sydney to my folks' place at Gymea every couple of weeks, and I used the Cumberland Highway to (more-or-less) bypass the City. Somehow or other I seemed to have a knack for hitting Pennant Hills Road right on peak hour. Fun times.

The Hills District is a great area, so if that's where you call home then you're in a really nice part of the world. Almost as good as the Shire.

:)

Only the first one. ;) I would have shrunk and re-hosted it but I didn't want to violate your copyright (that can be quite painful, apparently), so I took the liberty of quoting them. They're too good not to have on display.

Let me know if you ever need a hand with resizing or otherwise manipulating your pictures.

Cheers.

Cheers thanks for the embedding, I probably should have done it myself, but I was far too lazy to, I also felt that if I embedded the rest and only linked the first, no one would click on the first, just scroll though the embedded ones.

As for why I didn't resize it myself, put that down to lazyness at the time of posting although I also wanted to make sure the CBD and the horizon in general was clearly visible.

Pennant Hills road in peak hour is a nightmare in some places, especially north of the M2. Unfortunately the M2 doesn't handle the peak hour traffic much better.

I have just sent a pm to you, Orphia Nay and lionking. I thought I'd done this a few days ago, but must have clicked the wrong button or something, because they are not in my sent items box.

It would be really nice to say hello.

I'd just like to let everyone know that SusanB-M1 arrived safely in Oz and I had a very nice chat to her today.

Sort of. We have plenty of convicts now so they've stopped sending those but we're desperately short of tap dancers.

There's an exchange programme in place - we send Kylies and Bruces to the Old Dart and they send us Susans and episodes of Top Gear.

Everyone's a winner!

But but.................they send Bazza and Dame Edna back. What went wrong, think of the children

Yep, I had a nice chat to her last night. She's having a great time here.

She's such a lovely person! Our chat made my day. :)
