August Stundie nominations

Conspiracy theory, stupid remark, fits perfectly.

I don't think it's a winner, given the astounding quality of the output we see from other contributors, but worth nominating.

I think you missed the point.

What conspiracy theory would that be exactly?

On Headline News yesterday, the commentator read a story about debris from the space shuttle Columbia accident being found recently in Texas. After reading from the script, she ad-libbed "A piece of the space shuttle? I wonder how it got there. It must have fallen from the sky."

When the segement was repeated later, it was obviously a recording but it ended just before her ad-libbed comments.

I know more than all them thar scientists with their fancy larning:
This a a bunch of crap!!!
What would have happened to Earth's rotation on its axis had it had another moon? It would have been disastrous causing wobbling on its axis, which in turn could have been catastrophic. It is a fact that Earth’s moon helps life on this planet because its gravitational pull which in turn prevents the earth from wobbling around too much on its axis. To sustain life on earth an exact combination of the right distance between sun and earth as well as a moon of the right size—and this on top of all the other considerations regarding the nature of the sun-are needed. I guess the experts are gonna be saying now, that if the other moon were still there no life would have appeared on Earth?

Can't link to the specific comment, all comments are here:

There are a number of other priceless, and ignorant, comments there.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure quite a few theories based on models were eventually validated.

Yikes.
Can you stundie someone for trying to stundie someone else on something that was clearly not a stundie, even if given to the person who runs the stundies?

Marvin Bush must have been involved.....

and while you're at it...debunk that Marvin Bush is not George's brother.....
I think someone missed the point on that one.

If mine gets into the voting I would like it to be titled, "I may not know what Dunning-Kruger is, but I am very confident it doesn't apply to me".

Of course, because I'm 100% confident that Dunning-Kruger is some sort of new cookie.

Of course, because I'm 100% confident that Dunning-Kruger is some sort of new cookie.

Not quite right, should be more like:

"Of course Dunning-Kruger is a cookie. That's obvious from the name!"

I'm not sure what point Marokkan is trying to make here, and I'm not sure I want to. Did NIST fail to determine the true reason for the collapse of WTC7 because their carpets weren't vacuumed often enough?

You cant complete an investigation, without the cleaners. Why you dont understand it?

A cleaner is indirect involved with the investigation. Just like the person who typed the reports on the computer and watched at the spelling and the grammar.

Without those people the investigation would fail

Unless "cleaner" is slang for something else (and I'm hoping it isn't an assassin) that really is an absurd thing to say.
