I had to read it twice to pick up on the clues, but yeah, that's a parody. A very good one.

Now I'm all like  wondering who here is behind it.

Hmm, I believe it was still reblogged by a bunch of serious people unknowingly.

:wave1

That was fun! The transfat was clearly harassed when the other guy started thinsplaining.

I loved the denouement. The tone was just perfect. She won the argument by SJW standards but was so upset she had to leave the bus in tears (some victory, that) and wound up walking off all those calories she'd worked so hard all day to consume. The tone was perfect parody of some of the more "outraged!" posts you see on Atheism+.

I don't usually check those forums. Somehow those people remind me of... let's see if I make myself clear... those urban tribes so common during the 80's that were a subset of a subset of a subset of a minority representative of an urban tribe. I'm exaggerating a bit here, but that's the gist of it: to be as small and exclusive as possible, so that you become a small dot in the middle of a whole universe of sensitivities, but you and your friends are absolutely right! That's what makes you so special!

You know, like those fans of hardcore punk who were not just into hardcore punk, but a particular subgenre of another subgenre of hardcore punk that valued some type of "authenticity" according to their own mentality (not just "straight edge", but strengthened straight anti straight edge... or something of that sort... anyway...). Those people valued strange things which were alien to the vast majority of people.

It was incredibly tough and boring to be one of them. And then there was the real world.

This is the real impact, guys: A+ is some very, really authentic hardcore band from the 80's with a demo. You don't get it.

I liked there demo before you ever heard of them but now they sold out.

Now A+ and/or FTB is selling ilk apparel designed by Grimalkin, to help with the Skepticon fundraiser. Get 'em while they're hot. The design comes in fat or skinny.

Apparently "ilk" means that you're a fan of Greta Chistina or Jen McCreight. Of course they're either not counting the sales of the shirts towards the indiegogo fund, or no one bought one yet, b/c they're still stuck at $290 of their $700 goal.

Aren't those shirts rather ableist (or however you spell it)? The design shows the person standing. What about those people who can't stand, are they being excluded?

You may not be serious, but that's a good point, and one I'll raise over there.

Got to give credit where it's due. You did indeed raise your concern, and Grimalkin took the criticism with humility and without showing any evidence of being rankled. He immediately agreed with the issue. Well-done to both of you.

...thus demonstrating yet again that the A+ mindset is literally beyond parody.

Will you also raise the point that the person in the logo appears to have four intact limbs and two eyes, thereby excluding amputees and the ocularly-challenged?

I love this offense-based model of human interaction they have over there.

What I just learned:

If you do not personally have the absolute biggest problem there is, then complaining about your problem is extremely offensive* to people with bigger problems. (But of course "oppression olympics" is something they don't encourage.)

See here

In the online communities, we have something a little weirder and a lot less vile going on, that is still ... problematic, for lack of a better word. Other-kin. Fiction-kin. People with very sketchy self-diagnoses like multiple personalities. These people seem harmless, but they can be extremely offensive to trans folks and people with life-threatening mental illnesses. If some dude is claiming he was assigned Chad at birth, but he's actually Neo... I can see a transwoman who faces deadly prejudice IRL finding that appropriative and vile.

What's the best way to deal with that?
Well, how about seeing if any transwoman is actually offended by it "IRL" and then decide?

*i.e. conceivably offensive to hypothetical people and therefore offensive in general

Well, this thread has turned into a perfect example of sartorial culture and fibro-privilege in action. WHEN WILL PEOPLE STOP TRYING TO MARGINALIZE AND ERASE NUDISTS?!

Also consider that the lobster claw may be triggering to those with seafood allergies.

I can see why they might not be selling, that is ugly. Slim or fat it is blob art :P

Amen. Personally, I find it bizarre that they actually consider it a concern that they haven't included amputees or whatever the problem is when, their picture is of someone WITH A LOBSTER CLAW GROWING OUT OF THEIR FOREHEAD!!! Seriously, what rational person would think that was a problem?

But now they're over there, arguing that not all disabilities are visible. Kassiane, the usual winner in their ongoing "I'm the biggest victim" Olympics, now appears miffed that zizzle's invisible disabilities have been ignored, and has contributed to the thread in zizzle's usual kind, understanding way:

Well, to be an ass, not all disabilities are visible. DON'T ERASE ME.

But I still admire quints for doing what he thought was right and raising, and Grimalkin for acquiescing so reasonably.

Don't use triggering words like "ugly". That's privileged as ****, and if you keep it up you're going to get a two-week vacation to think over whether you belong here!

Also, all art is inherently worthy and to claim that some art is better than others based on your privilege-laden opinion is ******** ******* and I've just decided to implement your temp ban immediately.

I hope for your sake you take this time to go to a thrift store and look at some of the great art for sale that's only considered "bad" (which, just to let you know is one of my triggering words, and now I need to take a bowl of Xanax and hide in the basement for the rest of the day, thank you very much!) because the cis white male patriarchy didn't grasp the genius of the artist.

**** ******* ***** *****, **** ***!!!
