I don't see how that follows I'm not at War with A+. you can't be at war with ideas or ideals, or alliance with anything but reason. A+ is a bad idea, maybe started for good reasons but executed very poorly without applying the fundamentals of skepticism they say that they believe in. It really comes off as radical fundamental feminism and really doesn't have anything to do atheism.

It was a reference to Orwell's Nineteen Eighty Four. As was the post I was replying to.

A recent interview Jen McCreight gave for Vice starts off like this:

Being an atheist is a hassle, but being a lady atheist can be the pits. Not only do you have to deal with Christians saying you’re going to hell all the time, your beliefs will undoubtedly put you in close proximity with “enlightened” male unbelievers who will unabashedly hit on you and maybe even make rape jokes because, well, there’s no God to punish them.

Man, I had some respect for Vice...but it looks like they've jumped on the bandwagon of slamming atheists. (Below the interview is a link to the typical, anti-atheist opinion piece ranting about how rude atheists are, and how they need to shut up and know their place.)

In this short interview, Jen goes on to talk about being harassed at conferences by male atheists who obviously totally want to get into her pants. It looks like she's trying to become Rebecca Watson's Mini-Me.

After reading Watson's recent piece in Slate, I can see what A+'s next tactic is: going to media outside of the community, and complaining about how bad atheists are. We might be seeing the beginning of an anti-atheist backlash, and I'm sure that there are many women from FreethoughtBlogs and Skepchick who would love to tell their tales of misogynist woe to the media. I wonder how long before we see some confessional in a Christian publication from a female ex-atheist, crying about the depredations of heathen men?

I'm not familiar with Vice but they got hoodwinked like State. (Remember when publications employed fact checkers?). The Vice article is entitled Atheism - Sexism = Atheism + which means by definition if you don't imbibe the A+ Kool-Aid you are a sexist misogynist rape apologist.

You are correct that the only group benefiting from this jihad (and it is that) are the Fundies and other enemies of Atheism. You can almost hear them cackling with glee.

I am not sure if Jen and Rebecca really understand the difference between atheism, morality and ethics, and I am not sure what is the drive to move atheism into a social movement. It has not work so far for radical feminist movements and cannot see how this push would work either.

My hope has always been that the atheist movement would be a reflection of society in general, and not an elitist movement telling everyone else how wrong they are.

When did God ever condemn those things  ?

Oh my God. Somebody who was telling someone "check your privilege" just got told by a third party to check their privilege.

It's like Judo.

Faced with a complex situation where there's a conflict between different feelings of entitlement and a real life example of a conflict between viewpoints, naturally the thread is immediately closed down by The Ministry Of Truth.

Now i am really tempted to make "victim" troll account and do the covert ops trolling that will end in them fighting over how big a victim i am - without even realising that i am troll.

Ill think i crate a 31 year old woma victim and start the story of how her uncle was so "chatolic priest" to her and her dad didint belive her and her brother took her virginity or something. To make it more dramatic, ill add how she live in Texas and how something happened to her mother, preferebly at child birth (doctors could not do something because of some religios commandment).

Hows that for a starter?

Edit, i think ill also make her blind
youtube.com/watch?v=X04XFDDnC9o&feature=related - claim i surf net using this tecnique.

Go for it!!! I need to be entertained. :)

Nah, that would be redundant. That place is already so filled with nut jobs of magnitude 8.53 on Richter scale, that me going in there under cover will probably look like privileged white woman who got it bad young.

A+ looks like pissing Olympics of who is most underprivileged computer+inet connection owner on earth.
Ignoring the fact that if you have steady access to Internet and PC, you are in top privilege class on earth.
