Well, not necessarily. It depends on your claim. For example: let's say that I claim the ability of telekinesis. Let's say that I claim that it's so strong that I can pick up a person with my power. James Randi challenges me to demonstrate my claim and I respond by flying around outside the JREF.

Okay, you might say, "I have powers, but they're more subtle." Well, that's the point of well-designed demonstration protocols. If you can do something that has a measurable effect on the world, and if it is something beyond what normal people can do (or beyond what would normally happen by chance), a good test should be able to prove it.

Mind you, the level of tests that we'd design here would probably not be rock-solid. But it would be enough to get most of the people on this Forum thinking really hard...if you could do it.

Even if I perform things and predict things with time and dates in front of the eyes of the whole world wide web.

What kinds of things can you perform? What kinds of things can you predict with time and dates? Are they vague? (Along the lines of "I predict that an earthquake will happen") Or specific? ("I predict that an earthquake of magnitude 7.2 on the Richter scale will will have an epicenter 22 kilometers to the northwest of Towada city in Aomori Prefecture at 2:34 am")

If your demonstrations are so vague as to require a subjective "I believe" button to be pressed, then yes, I agree with you: it probably won't float here. But if they're specific enough that a basic set of controls can be designed that will control for all of the other things that could be going on (guessing, trickery, etc.), and if you're willing to work on one, I'll bet you'll get a really good reception from a lot of people on the forum.*

ArthW, no disrespect intended, it might help if you had a gimmick. Can you channel any discarnate beings? Maybe an extra-terrestrial? Do you know when the world is going to end?? Any good cult leader should at least know when the world is going to end.

AstralWar, two questions: Do these astral wars by any chance occur when you are sleeping and seem to be out astrally? Or is this something you believe to be happening during your waking hours, too?
