JD,
Allow me to explain what you're not understanding...
What you're saying would be true for normal thermite. But not for SooperThermite.............
.....................Glad I could help.
Tom
Got it. Now why hasn't the TM explained it as well as you did?
I had always wondered about this quantity of molten metal , sometimes described as a 'lake' or a 'river', and what became of it after it actually did cool. Where, I asked myself and the occassional TM'r, was the solidified mass? When was it removed? Obvious there was a varient of SooperThermite (I prefer the term super-nano-therm?te, personal preference).
After reading your above post I did a little research of my own and found the variant known as super-nano-thermote which first melts steel then continues to heat the molten steel for weeks thus vaporizing it until only a tiny mote of steel is left behind to solidify. This would account for the dissappearance of a lake of molten metal.
There is also the variant known as super-nano-thermolite which gets hotter and hotter over weeks and eventually burns a small hole right down to the Earth's mantle, the molten steel then drains down the hole and is never seen again. This would account for the dissappearance of a river of molten metal.
