Nope, not really, no. It's really just the known Habsburg problem, aka, model collapse. It's just learning from what the other bot produced, and spewing a flawed approximation of it to the other bot, who spews a flawed approximation of that back, repeat ad nauseam as they both spiral down the drain into complete nonsense. It's just a trivial case of two bots thinking their OWN faults are the real way people talk, if it bounces back on another bot, who added some faults of its own. It's not even inventing a new language (as it was actually hyped years ago), it's bots thinking that their own "Ooh Eeh Ooh Ah Aah Ting Tang Walla Walla Bing Bang" is a valid sentence if it bounced back off another bot. Without even understanding what it MEANS. It's about as surprising as that a pinball comes back down when you shoot it up, or that it bumps off a bumper, if you know how LLMs work
I could literally produce the same result by running the ol' Mark V Shaney (which I posted on this very board years ago) on two computers, and training each on the other's output. And nobody claimed those are actual AI, much less some kind of Skynet poised to replace all jobs and end humanity.
