Archeologly proves the Bible?

I said that is what he is "basically saying" or in other words implying and I stand by that statement.

And my Evidence thread currently in the History Forum shows there is evidence; maybe not proof but there is evidence.

Evidence of Jesu's divinity? Well, dont just sit there gawking at the monitor, lets have it!!

Using DOC's reasoning, Jalal Talabani isn't the independant President of Iraq, but a puppet president for the United States.

And even better it would also mean that Iraqi's are to be included in US censuses...censusii...thingymajig used to count people in a country *GASP*

Lets not kidd ourselves. All nations of the Earth are puppet states of China at present.
If China stops growing at such a phenomenal rate, the whole world will collapse.

You know who's in KV55 don't you? *

YOU? No. you're not dead yet.

BORIS KARLOF!

It was supposed to be the tomb of Akhenaten or Queen Tiye.
Quote from the Theban Mapping Project:

"The tomb may originally have contained a number of burials brought from Amarna and later redistributed in other tombs. The mummy of Queen Tiye, for instance, may have been placed in KV 55 and later in the Amenhetep II cache (KV 35)."

I must check my facts after the mistake about Constantine's Mother.

:) You don't get away with anything here, I've discovered.

Yeah, Tiye is in there, but I has escaped.

The Theban Mapping Project is awesome cubed. Bring us stuff from there often.

Kewl pix from FS. I have almost identical screenies from FSX in my Cessna Caravan. :) The FS terrain here sucks a bit, and shows the high plateau on which the Pyramids stand as a few sand dunes. Similarly, the Three Gorges Dam is some rapids. Oh well.

Cheers,

Dave

With respect, my friend, what language does that word come from. English is my language and I read French.

I have donwloaded hundreds of ADDON Scenery files to replace the crap Microsoft supply with FS9. I conpletely updated Australia and the Gold Coast no longer looks like it did in the 1940s. I downloaded Mesh files for the USA. I did the same for Europe, but seem to have flattened Rome. At least I don't have to put up with the Vatican. I can't seem to find out which file I downloaded that did that. You know what WinXP is like.

It is Americanese, more specifically of the Southern California Valley Girl Dialect.

All those men died for a delusion. What a disappointment to find themselves in oblivion.

Had one of them known the laws of physics, I bet they wouldn't be in such a hurry to sacrifice themselves.

Also, death to the Hittites.

HA, too late
Hattusa capital city of the Hittites

no longer such a wretched hive of scum and villainy

OK, then Ramsay didn't say propaganda like you said he said -- and what evidence are you talking about in the past 100 years that would make Sir Ramsay wrong when he discovered there was a Roman census every 14 years beginning with Emperor Augustus.

The Roman census claim was dispatched by Jerome O'Conner and posters here.
I'm surprised DOC still continues to refer to his source as Sir Ramsay while at the same time claiming that nothing thought or published in the last 100 could gainsay the validity of the man's misquoted opinion about 'Luke' as an historian.
Jerome O'Conner and Jan Assman have published on the subject. Why pretend Ramsay is the last word on 'Luke's' accuracy ?

Actually this is what Sherwin-White said:

"For Acts the confirmation of historicity is overwhelming. Yet Acts is, in simple terms and judged externally, no less of a propaganda narrative than the Gospels, liable to similar distortions." - Roman Society and Roman Law in the New Testament by A. N. Sherwin-White pg 189.

I guess he believes anything to do with the Divinity of Christ is a distortion. He accepts the history of Acts as overwhelming, but once Acts talks religion, he calls it propoganda. That is a supernatural bias, plain and simple.

Actually, this sounds rather like that Jeffersonian 'cafeteria style' resumen of the NT, rejecting the jive, retaining the humanistic and moral values.
I'd like to read more of Sherwin-White.

Because he is the last of any great historian or archeologist who would do so since recent evidence has overturned many assumptions about the Bible.

I just got this by e-mail:

"According to astronomers when the earth was ready for life the bombardment of asteroids delivered the necessary molecular material to start life on earth.
This process is very much like an ovary being fertilized by sperm."

Did HE do it:

Firing missiles at this little Planet
I think not.

Read the blog posting on someone who actually did. It does not support apologists misquote of his work.

Yes, paximerium, I went there and read.
And am interested enough to hunt up more by the man.
I find 'these' threads a wealth of information
Obviously you're right about Sir William aka Sir Ramsay

I confess.
Now that 'Luke' has been refuted as an historian and his historical accuracy reduced to the realm of a travellecr's anedotes, I thought sooner or later we'd get to the interesting bits of 'Luke'.
Perhaps later rather than sooner, judging from DOC's posts today.
I have patience in a good cause.
And thanks for posting up that link, paximperium.

Ladewig, obviously you're right. My newbiedom must be my excuse, although I did think it, after due consideration, the most courteous way of beginning the sentence, rejecting three alternatives as possible grounds for mod action.
