Application Proposal - Mental Telepathy

No! We haven't abandoned any plans for the JREF Challenge. The affidavit will be supplied when we send in an application. All three. Probably more. The doctor if going to get some of his close friends to witness the telepath test. Can anyone see any problems in getting an affidavit from three doctors or would it be better from people in different fields.

Before anyone here will take you seriously you must get rid of the badge Zep gave you. This can be done by posting the affidavit on this thread.

Do you have a signed affidavit? Your last post implies you do not. If that is the case then you have serious problems. Get treatment.

QED.

I beileve you can. I just don't know if you have enough postings to allow you to post attachments. If not, you can email the scanned copy to one of the moderators and ask him/her to post it for you.

The first step would be to apply. Why go through the trouble (or the expense) of accquiring affidavits until such time as the JREF actually asks for them? Dargo should send in an application.

Dargo,

I work with people who have major mental illnesses and disabilities. I read several psychological evaluation reports every week. The quote above is quite like things I have read and encountered several times over the years. It would not be uncommon to read a sentence like that within psych evals. Does the sentence you have quoted reside within a psychological evaluation written by a psychiatrist or clinical psychologist?

Just because the phenomenon seems real to you (the couple) does not necessarily mean it would seem real to the rest of us or even to the reporting doctor. Is this the case? In what type of document does the above quote appear in? What kind of doctor wrote this? Is it a medical doctor? Doctor of Philosophy? Please elaborate.

I thought exactly the same thing.

Depending on the context, the phrase "Telepathy seems to be very real with this couple." could be read as either of:

A confirmation that the practitioner has seen the couple perform an act which appears to confirm telepathy at work;

or,

A comment that one of the symptoms observed in the patient was a conviction on the patients's part that they could communicate through telepathy.

The second interpretation means that it does nor confirm the reality of the phenomenon. Rather, it merely confirms that the patient is convinced of its reality. The patient. Not the doctor.

If the first interpretation is the true one, then you have a situation where a medical professional has ssen an act of telepathy. I don't know of any such professional who would just blithely confirm this and leave it at that. The potential fame and money which would accrue to the first doctor to confirm, document, and possibly demonstrate such a phenomenon are simply too big to allow that a doctor would just write such a comment and turn his attention next to the tickly cough which is his next patient.

Oh, that reminds me. I still need 2 more. Based on what was mentioned above. Who wants to be famous?

Renewal of Offer

Dargo,

I remain interested in helping you. If you are successful in completing the two tests that I've offered, I'd sign an affidavit. I could even ask a second person, a physician, to attend the calls, and she could be the second signer.

Earnestly,
Gulliver

Perhaps, when you refer to my post, you would dare to comment on the specific context in which your doctor's quote was allegedly made.

\indeed, this question must be asked: is what you have in the form of an affidavit?

If so, apply immediately and send it to JREF, along with a completed application. E-mail copies to those who would like to see it, but make sure that JREF see it along with a completed form of application.

I wouldn't suggest that a form with a professional's name and contact details should be posted on the internet without his permission, however. It leaves him open to verything from identity theft to ridicule.

Dargo, have you considered Dumb All Over's nice offer and sent him a scan of your affidavit?
If not, would you care to explain why, please?

Does anyone know if testing has been carried out in Australia before?

If you mean JREF testing specifically, then I'm not sure.. If you mean testing of paranormal claims, then yes, lots.

What generally happens in the case of applicants who would not find it feasible to travel to the JREF for testing is that local skeptics will carry out the preliminary testing as representatives of the JREF. Read the challenge rules to which you have previously been directed.

If you are concerned about the JREF's ability to carry out testing in Australia, you could try applying for this prize. Once you have won this, you can use the $100,000 to travel to Florida.

I tried emailing Sceptics but they didn't reply.
