Merged Apollo "hoax" discussion - continuation thread

It wasnt true since smartcooky was addressing me, and I am older than he assumed.

Well if you really are old enough to remember the Cold War (as an adult) and you still think nukes could be fake, then that says more about you than did the age I assumed you were.

Really Bubba, some of the harebrained theories you expound on this forum, such as souper seekrit space programmes with secret rocket launches, verge upon sheer crackpottery, and they do not do your credibility any good,

IMO members such as myself can be forgiven for thinking that a lot of your postings are the rantings of an immature teenager!.

I dont recall saying any such thing.

Did you simply imagine that I indicated something about fake nukes, or was that an intentional strawman that you wrote there?

Seriously, where did you get the idea that I thought nukes were fake?

The 'mostly note' response would indicate to the reader that you think some are fake at least, that's how I understood the quote.

So you think all those nuclear weapons and their delivery systems were 'faked"?

The proxy wars? Fiery propaganda.....I presume you are quite young then.

...

Hypothetical discussion:
Mostly not.
That'd be my point, thanks.
I'd think follow the $.
...

Every day, I try not to fall for propaganda from every angle. I'm sure you'd do the same, as a wise and seasoned skeptic.

Question: "So you think all those nuclear weapons and their delivery systems were 'faked"?"

Your Answer: Mostly not.

Hypothetical discussion or not, your answer indicates to me that you think nukes are at least partially fake.

I am left wondering how nukes could be partially fake. Surely a woo-ometer was set on low.

Or...unless nukes were partially fake in the time honored spirit of stunts like fake Iraqi WMD, fake VC body counts, fake witness saw babies killed in incubators, etc...?

Earlier in context, my sense of "faked" was about propaganda/exaggeration, as I had just indicated re intimidating public and congress:

"I can see how one or more who'd profit from it might be tempted to spin up a scary threat that is not as big as it really is.

Think of the fat kegs of gold one or more without scruples could accrue by inflating that cold war threat. Even by a tad. Profit includes gaining power, not just gold. More power can lead to more gold."

Scammers are everywhere. Especially where the easy big money and power is ie DC.

I was also thinking whether or not the Ruskies might've exaggerated (faked) their cold war capabilities...comments?

After Nikita's shoe show, I sometimes wondered if some of those missiles they rolled thru Red Square might have been empty tubes, for show.

So much depends upon trusting the information delivery systems which in matters of state was and still is not questioned enough. I am again reminded of Ike's warning about the MIC.

I read somewhere that Ike originally said "Military Congressional Industrial Complex", but Ike was advised to change it from MCIC to MIC for political reasons.

MCIC would be more accurate, per congressional control of military budget. Revolving doors and all. Seen to this day.

Besides, MCIC rolls off the tongue more lyrically. Some will concur, I think.

I see where that would be misunderstood.

There undoubtedly was exaggeration by the USSR and undoubtedly NATO over estimated their capabilities. To my mind that was a good thing. It ensured NATO had the capability to deal with what the USSR did have.

That's one of those things that should be obvious, but yeah. It's much safer to overestimate a potential enemy than underestimate them.

Really?

(I think)

Good thing some idiot never pushed the button. Just because you lived thru it all and believed what they told us doesnt mean there was no room for hype for profit and or advantage. Ike warned us. Propaganda, in other words. We all know about propaganda.

Hypothetically, even if it was not as dangerous as we were told, I recognize how all our firsthand military and civilian experiences would tend to convince one that it was as serious as we were told it was.

I believed all that they told us back then. Duck and cover. We had little reason to distrust them. Except for those paying attention to what Ike mentioned.

I'm not saying it wasnt real and dangerous.

Nonetheless, I can see how one or more who'd profit from it might be tempted to spin up a scary threat that is not as big as it really is.

I shook hands with a civil war vet. Not that unusual. Some were still with us in the fifties. He was way old.
.

You don't seem to realize that there was another side to this which didn't have a prOfit motive. Think about the Soviets and why would they fake this confrontation that ultimately destroyed their economy?

Who said the MIC was 'running everything'?

Sounds like a strawman.

Okay who was running this massive world wide propaganda machine you seem to believe created the Cold War? Remember it wasn't just the USA that thought that the Soviets were a threat.

Forget it. Nothing to it.

Probably Ike was senile. His MCIC was and still is just a wacky stack of hallucinations.

This gets tiring. Please try representing my statements a little more accurately. That'd make it easier.

Since you appear to be trying to avoid answering. I'll just ask questions then

Okay who ran the propaganda campaign in the U S A and Russia...think you can answer that? Lol

At the moment only a couple of terms come to mind.

Surely you could hypothesize what types of characters would do so, as a thought exercise.

Although Operation Mockingbird and Ike's MCIC are made of nothing but old tin foil hats, it dont matter none. This is just an exercise.

Anyway. I'd look at those for examples.

Yep you have no real answers do you? Lol, well that isn't a surprise now is it?

Discussion over

Now back to Apollo hoaxes

Its not about avoiding your questions, its just that unpacking your exaggerations and strawmen becomes tedious after the first few.
