How do people who deny that the U.S. went to the moon explain the Soviet Union part of the equation?

They were being blackmailed for - take your pick: corn food being delivered, nuclear threat, they are government and all governments are in on it.

The USSR and the European governments would have seen thru the falsehood because of whole range of issues but the idea that the USSR would have remained silent is just hilarious.

....and if the USSR knew that Apollo was a hoax, then so too would the current Russian government... why would they continue to remain silent.

If Putin has hard evidence of the hoax, I have no doubt he would either let the cat out of the bag, or use the information to exact huge political and/or economic concessions from the US. I see no evidence of either.

The more fringe elements claim the Soviets were complicit because both the U.S. and Soviet governments were simply part of the same new world order or shadow government. That's not credible for obvious reasons. A variant claims that both the U.S. and the Soviet space programs were shams, and that despite Cold War enmity they agreed not to tell on each other.

A greater number of claimants theorize the Soviets' complicity in hiding the hoax was purchased as a condition of the controversial 1972 grain sale.

For that to be true...the arch of which is impossibly large and complex.

It's all faked and part of an incredibly complex web of deceit, shadowy cabals and secret plots to rule the world stretching back hundreds of years whose revealing to the world is punishable by death. Easily discovered on youtube though.

I've met a number of Arab and Muslim's who felt that not only was the Cold war fake but that all of modern wester history is distorted to hide that the Christian world has been trying for centuries to 'destroy the Ummah (Islamic community). ie the only part of history that really happened was this conspiracy. Example one professor I worked with a Pakistani Electrical Engineer felt that England conquered India solely to use its man power to destroy Islam but that Allah prevented that...in some way.....

When we interviewed him for the job (his resume and credentials were impressive and we checked them closely - real too) that he had left civil employment in Karachi running the traffic light system because Israeli agents sabotaged the entire system and sold off the stock of spare parts.

No, but it is a historical fact that one side overestimated the other's capabilities habitually.

Proxy wars were real too. Millions died.

The MIC did well for itself, as did the industries who were aided by the MIC, like those of oil, copper, bananas and telecommunications.

Good thing some idiot never pushed the button. Just because you lived thru it all and believed what they told us doesnt mean there was no room for hype for profit and or advantage. Ike warned us. Propaganda, in other words. We all know about propaganda.

Hypothetically, even if it was not as dangerous as we were told, I recognize how all our firsthand military and civilian experiences would tend to convince one that it was as serious as we were told it was.

I believed all that they told us back then. Duck and cover. We had little reason to distrust them. Except for those paying attention to what Ike mentioned.
