AP News: "Let's go, Brandon" is really code for "**** Joe Biden"

Way worse, in my opinion. Airport departure lounges are one thing. But however sympathetic I am to their political views I may be, politics are not everything. Even my worst political enemy deserves an airline pilot who stays focused on doing his job, and keeps his political opinions to himself.

There's always some weirdo at work who refuses to pick up on social cues and insists on talking politics, religion, or some other loaded topic.

just for some balance, remember how the Dems turned "Teabagger" in to something perverse? Or, umm... well, relative to this conversation.

I'm pretty sure the colloquial definition of "teabagging" long predates the amateur political party. The practice itself, of course, is older still.

Can Norm MacDonald fairly be called "right wing"? Serious question. I could never get a handle on his political leanings with regard to the U.S.

He could be called temperamentally conservative, I suppose. He didn't like talking politics but he liked talking about it. If the conversation turned to any depth, he'd want to escape "unfunny politics talk." His humor was relatively apolitical trolling. It's all very surface-level. I think National Review's obit was titled, "Christian Comedian Dies." Who wouldn't want to claim him for their side?

"What's the evidence God exists? None. Well, that's not good! So then you go, 'hey, what's the evidence God does not exist?' None. So, it's equal. Yet one of them is for sure right."

Funny, but you don't need to be a professor of logic at Science University to see the problems. If you tried engaging him, he'd say he's just a night club comic, not a philosopher.

The "teabagger" existed long before the Teaparty if I remember. If you insist on indulging in whataboutery, at least get your memes right. A more apt analogy would have been the definition of santorum...the definition of which was intentionally devised to insult Rick Santorum.

In principle I would like to agree, but that standard only goes one way (for example, teachers) and that's worse than no standard.

I wouldn't have had a clue what this "Let's go, Brandon" meant if this thread hadn't been started.

I love how on this forum, of all places, some people are criticizing conservatives for their juvenile political humor. Too rich.

:D

Bring it! "Oblique" is so.... well, lacking in hormones.

Let me know when JFK Jr. descends from heaven to annoint Trump, or whatever the latest gonad-free, factless whitewash promises, comes true.

The funny thing about that one is that it was initially a self-identification. "Tea Party" enthusiasts had taken to mailing tea bags to politicians and some started calling themselves "teabaggers". Detractors just kind of ran with it after that.
I have my doubts about that, they were calling themselves teapartiers, I don't think I'd ever heard anyone them call themselves teabaggers.

I think the connection I'm having trouble with is why an audience watching a NASCAR race would spontaniously start chanting "F Joe Biden" out of the blue. I mean...why? It seems so random.
Its been a thing at sporting events, especially in the south for a few months I think. Lets go brandon is definitely an improvement over the original.

I don't recall fans suddenly getting politically active at baseball games in the past. No "F Obama" spontaneous chanting at the Super Bowl, or things like that. Sports, I thought, were pretty popular across the political spectrum, and removed from it. I guess NASCAR is the exception?

While I can see the humor in the initial incident, I was introduced to the meme as 'evidence' the news media silences conservative voices, which is just...wow...that's a new kind of desperation to claim oppression.

As a Brandon, it is marginally more annoying.

I'm with you there. It's not like China, where people who a unhappy with the government have to come up with a new "lets go Brandon" every week to evade the censors. Americans can do it just because it's funny.

As a Brandon, it is marginally more annoying.
I kinda feel sorry for that Nascar driver. The reporter was trying to make it better for the interview, but made it worse for him.

Imagine being named Karen.

You must not have paid much attention to sports since the Obama administration then.

I can't speak to many other sports. I really only watch basketball (very part-time, though my Heat are 6-1 currently so it might pick-up), but I watch baseball all of the time, multiple teams in multiple divisions in both leagues. During all of Trump's presidency I don't think I heard more than 1 or 2 anti-Trump chants. Ever. I never heard any pro-politician chants ever.

Maybe I've missed a few, but I don't think so.
