Another Sylvia flop

The guests we’ll meet today have questions they say only world-renowned psychic Sylvia Browne can answer. We’ll meet Jessica, who says one day she was overcome by an unknown force, which forced her to start writing pages and pages of messages. She found out that the notes were meant for her roommate’s friend and were from the friend’s boyfriend who had recently passed away in a car accident. She wants to ask Sylvia if she has a gift and why she was used for these messages. We’ll talk to Laurie, whose mother died at 3:33 in the morning. A few months later, she was jolted out of bed at 3:30 in the morning, to find her infant son not breathing. She says this has happened a number of times, and wants to know if her mother is the one waking her up. We’ll meet Lucy, whose nine-year-old daughter often sees people no one else can. Her daughter frequently sees a man, and one time the man told her about how he killed people, and also showed her symbols, which her daughter was able to draw for her. She wants to know what the symbols are and why her daughter is being haunted by this man. We’ll meet Tamara, whose mother died in January. She wants to know if her mother was trying to give her any messages the night she passed away. She is also desperate to find her brother, who has been missing for several years. She wants to know if her brother even knows about their mother’s death, and she wants to know if he is alive. Plus, we’ll meet Karen, who says she sees the number 49 everywhere. When she looks at a clock, it says 49 and when she gets change, it’s always 49 cents. She is afraid that it means she is going to die when she is 49.
Sad, sad, sad. She is taking advantage of grieving, desperate people who are fantasy prone. The really sad thing is, no matter how many times she bombs on her readings and predictions, people will still believe in her. She's a scum-sucking bottom feeder. I wish people would wake up and see what a charlatan she is. But I fear that will never happen. People want to believe that they're special and they can't let go of loved ones who've died. They just can't face reality. Sad and pathetic.

That's exactly what we should do.

I'll keep the clips and make them available.

Record, people, and let me know where to get the stuff. Anything - no clip is unworthy.
Honestly, Claus? I know you are serious about what you said, but I just find her appearances on Montel to be so outrageously bad, that I really didn't think it would be of much interest here anymore.

I saw a lot of her while I was sick in Dec/Jan, but I just thought she was so bad that it seemed a worn out act that no one would believe. Then again, I would see all of the Sylvia believers in the audience and sigh heavily.

I'll try to tape a few of her (every Wednesday) performances on VHS tape, since that's the handiest for me.

Regrettably, none of this will make a dent in this woman. Her new book will sell zillions of copies, she'll continue to be featured on Montel, and she'll continue to prosper until her disease-ridden corpse comes to a stop.

We probably shouldn't pounce too quickly on her failures, anyway. Interesting Ian, on another thread, already informed us that psychic powers tend to be very weak, so Sylvia's just doing her best.

God, people are stupid.

My wife didn't get home in time to record it. Dang!

That's a reason to divorce her. :p

Yes, honestly. The more ridiculous she gets, the better argument we have - but we need to be able to document that she really said what she said.

God, people are stupid.

We also need to document that.

I realy wish i could get a collection of this stuff going.

I just need a way to copy it from the TV. Put it on my comp. Then cut out the dead air to make a best of collection

I need to go to best buy tomarrow

Sylvia Brown in Bulgaria

Her new book will sell zillions of copies,

God, people are stupid.

Well, several weeks ago I notices Sylvia Brown books were translated in Bulgarian and taking quite a bit of shelf space in an otherwise respectable bookstore.

I also know of a bookstore where one can write reviews on books. May just go past and slip a note telling readers to visit randi.org for more details on Sylvia.

She is not on TV, but we have plenty of home-grown cold readers on lousy cable channels. It's a mystery why all those psychics tend to be morbidly obese and unhealthy-looking (and blond). Real mystery:D

Do NOT cut out the dead air. You can do it to illustrate a point, but you also need to save the whole show.

We need to avoid accusations of manipulation.

i think the "greatest misses" collection would be entertaining, if not utterly annoying and saddening, but to be honest, it probably wont do much good to change people's minds. they could just cut a counter-collection showing the stuff they consider to be "hits" and feel justified in their beliefs.
so all i am saying is the collection is at the least, entertainment for skeptics, at best, a help to fence-sitters. so dont be mad when if it doesnt win any arguments for you, haha.

This makes my blood boil...... how can she have the audacity to keep embarrassing herself and how can people be so gullible?
How much proof do they need, that she, along with all other "psychics" are at best deluded, at worst calculating con-artists...

Better yet, I'd like to see a montage of all the similar guesses she's made over the years. I know this would work with John Edward!

Just edit together all the different times he said "I'm getting an 'M' or an 'M-A' connection."

I once heard an audio clip where they put together all the times Homer Simpson had said "D'oh!" up to that point. I think it was about 32 of them. Hilarious.

Oooo ooo ooo, I say we need a new reality show. Call it "Psychic Misses" and start with clips of all the tv psychics missing badly on various shows. That should keep the show going for at least a season :D
That's not a bad idea.

At all.

But it requires that we document the misses.
