• Quick note - the problem with Youtube videos not embedding on the forum appears to have been fixed, thanks to ZiprHead. If you do still see problems let me know.

Another Sylvia flop

Intellectual property from the Montel Williams show is not yours to distribute without permission. Next time you watch the show, read the credits carefully. You will very likely find specific restrictions that prohibit what is being proposed in this topic.

One thing that is not restricted is giving them your comments on their web site. It does take a few minutes to register, and you undoubtedly won't get a reply, but it's kind of like reporting spam. Persistence might count for something; at the very least it will waste their time filtering the sycophants from the real people.

A very good idea. You might make a difference to the newcomers who do not really know what to think.

(I even registered to the utterly vulgar and idiotic Carla Baron "Haunting Evidence" Site, and although being almost immediately banned for sending a PM - VERY carefully worded but none theless stating that Baron's claims are false - to a member. Of course it had been better to post a message at the board, although her followers care very little about facts. They seem to worship her like some kind of deity.)

Write into the show to complain here

It probably won't do anything...but its better than doing nothing!

Published transcripts are subject to "fair use" provisions of copyright law -- a person could reasonably and legally quote from the transcripts for purposes of commentary and/or analysis.

Making and distributing copies of video clips is a different story. Conceivably a person could use a clip as part of an analysis, however, there are a plethora of contractual and legal hurdles. Fairly or unfairly, video is treated differently than the printed word.

Evidence?

Well, it may not be the best evidence in the world, but I agree with Pyrrho. I think that the transcripts and the video can be "fair use" both as scholarly comentary and matters of public interest. And I agree that the video is a little harder to use than the writings. I'm an actual lawyer if that makes a difference.

Sadly, I fear it will hurt my credibility more than help it.
