You have to register to vote. It doesn't mean you are compelled to vote. Registering for selective service does not mean that there is still a draft where you are obliged to perform military service. Just because the USA originally established a draft back in 1917, and, therefore, it would not be precedent to start another military draft, doesn't mean the USA currently has a draft. You seem overly uptight about your selective service registration. Why is that?

What is Selective Service registration for? What does Selective Service registration do?

I'm not uptight, I didn't resist signing up for it. The fact that at the time I was actively engaged in trying to get into the Air Force ROTC makes the claim that I'm uptight about potentially having to serve bizarre.

I've also highlighted some parts that perhaps don't support what you're saying.

I had the pleasure of working with several intelligent and well-educated Canadians. All of 'em pulled green cards and are now US citizens.

I wonder if easy access to good health care was part of the reason? Or did they just want to be part of a country that actually makes a difference in the overall scheme of things?

But blather on concerning our internal affairs; that and $1.50 will buy you a cup of coffee.

I talked to those same Canadians and they said their decision to come here had nothing to do with your "bizarre speculations" (their words), but rather due to the fact that we have nicer weather.

Arguments using anecdotal evidence are fun!
 
James Randi became a US Citizen but he didn't mention anything about easier access to health-care as being the reason. It had something to do with our "search and seizure" amendment.
