Ancient Pyramids and other structures, astronomical alignment & similarity.

I KNOW, so finding two of similar size and shape on separate continents would be an 'uncommon' thing, especially if we are talking pre-Columbus times.

Uhm no. If you have two cultures in separate continents both building stuff of varying size and shape, chances are eventually they will build something that maybe kinda looks alike and is of somewhat similar size.

If ball courts vary in size, is it more or less likely that you could find one that will match in size one from another continent?

ETA: Giggywig types faster than I do.

Jesus H Christ man, the Culture that youre talking about was on the other side of the world and didn't exist until hundreds of years after the Egyptian culture had collapsed (for the last time)
and the pyramids do not look like mesoamerican temples, besides which Peru is not in mesoamerica.

what similarity are you attempting to show proves contact here. A person would have to be a real retard to even think there was any.

:p
Since you're on his ignore list, I thought I'd quote this post in the hopes that he'd see it... Which will probably earn me a place on his ignore list.

Apparently merely ignoring facts that disagree with his point of view isn't sufficient; King of the Americas needs to not even see that there are facts that disagree with his point of view.

you havent found any even remotely the same size and shape

as you apparently have me on ignore can everyone else reading this ask KotA
who discovered Troy ?
thanks
:D

...These similarities 'could be' a false positive. However, if tomorrow we discover some set of plans or letters that detail how the meso-americans DID visit Egypt, and 'tried' to replicate the style in their buildings back home, then these similarities WOULD be evidence. Until then, I'm withholding judgement.
Useless speculation, since we have archaeological evidence that the civilisations of S.America at the time did NOT build ocean going vessels.

Here's is a good site to start with, http://www.angelfire.com/zine/meso/
in particular, the article regarding ocean-going vessels.

ETA: their article on pyramids.

How close does it have to be in order to be "similar" in size ?

"Close enough to 'look' like they are the same size..."

I mean If I have a 567 lb square block of granite, it would be similar to one that weighed 565 lb. But if I had a block that weighed 4 pounds, a 2 pound difference would be enough to make them 'dis-similar'.

I'd say a 53,000 sq ft footprint is 'similar' to a 50,000 sq ft one.

If they were side by side, I am not sure I could tell you which was bigger or by how much.

Why is it so difficult NOT to draw a conclusion?

Speculation is arriving at a conclusion without proper evidence, which I have NOT done.

I am saying we DON'T 'know'...and moreover that these similarities don't rule out the 'possibility'.

Why is it so difficult NOT to draw a conclusion?
you haven't managed it yet, so it must be fairly easy
Speculation is arriving at a conclusion without proper evidence, which I have NOT done.
You've done it in almost every post. who can forget your classic "I know there isnt enough evidence for a lost civilisation, so I shall just assume that there was one"
or your
"UFO's have been written about by every historian since the dawn of time"
when theres no evidence that any historian has ever written about UFOs
I am saying we DON'T 'know'...and moreover that these similarities don't rule out the 'possibility'.
Yup, see thats where you keep going wrong, you are assuming that because you are ignorant of the facts that everyone else must be clueless as well,
this is not actually the case
:boggled:

Why is it so difficult NOT to draw a conclusion?
Because none of your conclusions are backed up by archaeological evidence.

Speculation is arriving at a conclusion without proper evidence, which I have NOT done.
It is precisely what you have been doing. YOu have provided absolutely no evidence. Your statement,
However, if tomorrow we discover some set of plans or letters that detail how the meso-americans DID visit Egypt, and 'tried' to replicate the style in their buildings back home, then these similarities WOULD be evidence..
, IS speculation.

Wrong and wrong, as well as baseless speculation.

Read the cites provided by myself and others and weigh up the evidence.

Rectangular doors and windows are common to most if not all cultures, right?

So, is this one more piece of evidence? One of those which makes difficult NOT to draw a conclusion? Would that be proper evidence? This fact surely can't rule out the 'possibility'.

Disclaimer: It was irony.

That would be speculation on a hypothetical circumstance, and NOT drawing a conclusion based on the current incomplete data...

What 'conclusion' do you propose that I have made or reached?

Exactly which pyramids are you comparing to one another ?

Those pyramids look nothing alike, anyway.

Now you're being gay, not that there's anything wrong with that. Have you ever seen Seinfeld?
Yes I have. And they never once used "gay" to mean anything else but homosexual, unlike the silly adolescent way you keep using it.

These similarities 'could be' a false positive.
Meaning these purported similarities (that aren't all that similar) are not in fact evidence that the cultures had any contact.

If something "could be" evidence the way you're using it, then it is not evidence.

However, if tomorrow we discover some set of plans or letters that detail how the meso-americans DID visit Egypt, and 'tried' to replicate the style in their buildings back home, then these similarities WOULD be evidence. Until then, I'm withholding judgement.
No, if you found evidence that the two cultures did indeed have contact (something that hasn't happened--and never will), then that which now exists and is not evidence would not somehow become evidence.

ETA: Your saying that something "could be evidence" reminds me of the thing you see SCAM-believers doing: citing studies that show a "nearly significant" correlation. (That's another way of saying that the correlation was not significant.)

And isn't it amazing and significant that on these Old World and New World pyramids, the wide part is always at the bottom and the narrow part at the top? :eye-poppi

And in rectangular houses, we almost always see doors made in the walls rather than through the roof? :eye-poppi
