American Jailed for on-line insult of Thai King

A court in Thailand has for the first time jailed an American citizen for insulting the Thai monarchy in blog postings made from the United States.

My feelings are divided, which of the many Asian royals I would like to insult more. Also the Saudi royals are high on my list.

"The King of Thailand has done a lifetime career running a country to specialize in child prostitution." I think he should be rewarded with a Facebook fan group with a title of this kind that does justice to his moral integrity and political achievements.

Why not? It's a fantastic place, great food, history, scenery, people, beaches, weather, beer etc, etc.

They do seem to revere their king though. I went with a mate of mine and we were surprised when we made a small joke about the king and one of the Thais we were with gave us the low down on how that was a really, really bad thing to do.

Some countries have strange or odd cultures and practices but you kind of respect that when you go to them, When in Rome....


Before I went travelling I read up on the countries I'd be visiting. In Thailand it's very rude to show the soles of your feet or touch someone's head.
