Despite your pleas to the contrary, there IS a thing called "The Greater Good".
Only when framed from a specific viewpoint. There is no absolute state of affairs or a particular outcome which we can define as "The Greater Good."

It is in the country's greater good to be a world leader.

No go and nitpick.
Plenty of countries are doing just fine without being a "world leader," whatever that means.

I think it could be an upgrade. I don't want the US to have any leadership role on the world stage. I want the rest of the world thinking about the US as often as they think of Paraguay.

The historical context behind the US's position on the world stage requires that the U.S. continue to play a big role in world affairs. You can't just reneg on your committment to help protect Eastern Europe NATO countries from the Russian govt, for instance.

I hate the moral equivalence Chomsky bullcrap. I and thousands of refugees moved here to America from a 3rd world dictatorship for a reason.

You absolutely can just renege. There isn't magic power that stops you from doing it.

That would be a bit difficult considering that there are Levi's, Coca Cola, Pepsi, Pizza Hut, KFC, McDonald's, Boeing airliners, American movie stars, musicians, automobiles, trucks, vans, Trump's golf courses and his buildings everywhere, and of course, we can't forget Harley-Davidson International.

Whenever the Russians visited our base under the "Open Skies" treaty, they would grab as many jeans as they could carry. In other words, it is not likely that the United States will be forgotten because you wish it so.

Those are not products of the "united States." They are products of the hard work of individuals. There is nothing American about them.

I beg to differ. When I travel the world, I can't help but be reminded of the United States because the fingerprints of America are everywhere. Trying to ignore the existence of the United States is like trying to ignore the existence of the sun at the beach on a hot summer day.

The least surprising confirmation.

Inside was an intelligence bombshell, a report drawn from sourcing deep inside the Russian government that detailed Russian President Vladi*mir Putin’s direct involvement in a cyber campaign to disrupt and discredit the U.S. presidential race.

But it went further. The intelligence captured Putin’s specific instructions on the operation’s audacious objectives — defeat or at least damage the Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton, and help elect her opponent, Donald Trump.

At that point, the outlines of the Russian assault on the U.S. election were increasingly apparent. Hackers with ties to Russian intelligence services had been rummaging through Democratic Party computer networks, as well as some Republican systems, for more than a year. In July, the FBI had opened an investigation of contacts between Russian officials and Trump associates. And on July 22, nearly 20,000 emails stolen from the Democratic National Committee were dumped online by WikiLeaks.

Next Trump defense, "I didn't collude with the Russians. They just backed me because they thought putting me in office would wreck the country."
