Of course, it was in the form of a Navy Corpsman, riding on a submarine, hot-racking with 2 other guys, and having to eat whatever the cooks made.

I felt entitled to it.

I never knew I was a deadbeat communist.

Dang. Guess I'll have to burn that uniform now.

Oh yeah! And so are 1.2 billion people in mainland China - PRC! So easy to overlook them because they are, you know, not American or Jooos...
 
You know a few self-described communists in a capitalist country. That's not a good basis.

The USSR held the West at bay for, say, 60 years. China is currently outperforming the West. They don't do that with smoke and mirrors. Those people were creating and accumulating wealth.

That's capitalism. I've been to China a few times. In the cities, where every Tom, Dick, and Li is selling DVD's, clothes, jewelry... that's capitalism. Chinese 20-somethings renting apartments, going to work, watching Sex in the City, eating KFC, wearing Gucci sunglasses... that's capitalism. I don't see how China can be considered a "Communist" country, unless communist is the new synonym for totalitarian.

I'm from a family of communists, so I know quite a few. Or at least quite a few who identified as such when it still mattered. Every single one is or was at one point in their lives an entrepreneur. Many have a nice home, car (sometimes two of both) and have travelled the world, including the East Bloc.

Make of that what you will. Darn commies.

The PRC still defines itself as Communist. Just like Thunder's friends. ;)

Say that we don't believe the PRC's own claims of what they themselves are. You still have some splainin' to do about 1921-1990, yes?
 
Most commies tend to be educated and middle class. That's been the case throughout its history and is a common trait amongst totalitarian ideologies.
