All Communists are dead-beats

I know a few Communists. None of them are very succesful in life.

They don't make much money, they haven't achieved much in their careers.

They tend to be single.

Some of them, are total bums...living in their mom's basement with very low level jobs that they hate.

What they ALL have in common, is great resentment towards folks who have achieved, or at least make a decent attempt to.

They go on and on about how the gov. should give them this, the gov. should give them that, and how some day..they will simply RISE UP and take what they want.

Like I said....dead-beats.

I wouldn't use the word "Deadbeat" when the phrase "Persons possessing an overly-developed and misplaced sense of entitlement to the fruits of other people's labors" should suffice.

Communism and communists are so diverse a group and cover so many different areas that pinning it to just a few people you happen to know is painting all communists everywhere with a broad paintbrush. This isn't me supporting communism, economic, social, or otherwise. This is me pointing out that using your limited experience as evidence has a massive, built-in flaw.

Maybe his friends call themselves "communists" but aren't really card-carrying members of any particular communist or socialist group. They just read about Marx and Engels in history class and thought "OMG, this idea if off the hook!" Otherwise he'd probably understand that his extrapolation and generalization is a pretty poor one.

Nope. Not all communists are deadbeats or losers.

Someone living in an intensely capitalistic society claiming that all communists are deadbeats solely on the grounds that the few communists they know match that description is a bit like someone living in the Bible Belt claiming that all atheists are arrogant jerks solely on the grounds that the few atheists they know match that description.
