A thanksgiving proposal

I don't lie well, or I would try it. Anyway, I like my boss and I should be able to get stuff done at work that day since a lot of people will be out.

I am sorry to miss out on the fun, don't abuse George too much without me, or if you do make sure you take some good pics :D

Someone should bring some spam, so you can have a good old sing along :D

I wish there was a way we could ship you the food but I guess the pictures will have to do. We should take your suggestion about the Spam though.

The head and claws of the Stop Sylvia Browne pinata (decapitated by the loyal JREFer Mattfn) awaits a proper final destruction (I thought about sending them to Randi). Mattfn suggested bringing the head and claws to your place on the 23rd and, after all the food is cooked, dropping them in the deep fryer. I don't know if that would be a good idea as you may want to use the deep fryer for food again. If you have some kind of fireplace we could burn them in effigy. Please let me know!
 
Yeah bring 'em! Steve may not be willing to deep-fry them, but we do have the fire pit. We also have 2 fireplaces inside so there are plenty of options for incinerating Sylvia.
 
So.....who's coming Thursday, besides SC? And whatcha bringing, so there's something of a ballanced meal that day too?!

I'm doing desserts, but I'll fill in anywhere that looks sparse. Apple pies, brownies. Got a request? It will be there for Friday too!
 
We are above nothing. Besides, burning things is fun! Most people missed it because it was pretty late by then, but the Luau volcano was spectacular when it went on the fire.

Anyway, I am looking to get a headcount.
I believe that for Thursday there is only Mattfn & Seismic Cowgirl. We will be heading over to my Mom's place for a regular Thanksgiving dinner. If anyone else is planning to be here on Thursday let me know....

And for the Big Tamale Feast & Turkey Fry on Friday I have a list of definite/probable/possible people:

Don't think of it as burning her but as burning her influence: that's why it's the Stop Sylvia Browne Pinata not the Sylvia Browne Pinata.
 
I should have said in my previous post: How 'bout a heads up if you are thinking about crashing on Friday night.

As for food, in addition to Cowgirl's tamales & the Turkey, I was planning to make:
- Mole sauce (I will make it with vegetable stock so the herd animals can eat it too....)
- Rice & Beans of some sort
- Roasted butternut squash
- probably some other stuff...

So we are going with a not-quite southwest, native American sort of thing. Bring whatever you like, I enjoy the surprise. I was thinking of suggesting something chocolate but it sounds like Mattfn will be supplying us with a chocolate fix.

I may be plausibly called a baker, but Ponderingturtle is a candy-maker! (Aren't y'all glad y'all know us?!)

I'm considering coming back and staying over Friday evening. Y'know, the role of the late relative that scoffs up all the leftovers. I'm calculating now how many shopping malls I'd pass, and therefore the potential traffic gridlock, but those looneys ought to be shopped out and gone by then.

I bake as well. I might have a spare pumpkin pie with me as well. I have two long pumpkins to make pies with and that might well be more than one pie.

hmm must remember to get Crisco instead of looking to see if I can find lard for pie.

you are certainly a more focused decorator than I am.
