A rational case for anarchism

The trade embargo was only for US trade. They were free to trade with any other country. It was placed there because Castro took over US owned business.

I don't understand the purpose of this video. Is it to say that the Black Bloc are not violent, that all the so-called Black Bloc violence was a result of police actions instead? In other words, do the police actions make the Black Bloc any less wrong? Does it change anything at all, in other words?

The purpose of the video is to show the police acting as Agent Provocateurs.

They dress up as "anarchists" and instigate and commit acts of violence to discredit protestors. And, yes, for all we know, the "Black Bloc" may be entirely made up of policemen and policewomen.

That was actually done in the US (under COINTELPRO). Of course I don't know of any evidence it was the case in Toronto, just saying it's not completely far fetched.

A lot of things were done, at one time or the other, in one place or the other, by some group or the other. That is no reason to see them lurking in every shadow, whenever that is an excuse for denying uncomfortable facts about people one supports.

Capitalist and anarchist? Never. But don't ask me because I don't believe in anarcho-capitalism.

Now if you want to know places where a mixed market economy with liberal democracy has turned out well, then the answer is most of the Western world along with several Asian countries, India and Israel.

But if you've got that rational case for anarchism then we'd love to hear it. This thread has been very thin on rational cases for anarchism.
 
The discussion about heart surgeons brings up a question: how do you even know a heart surgeon is a real qualified heart surgeon?

What's to prevent me, someone who never went to medical school, from just putting out a sign that I do heart surgeries for 2,000,000 Doritos (I'm assuming there is no traditional money with government being gone) and throw in some brain surgery for a crate of Hot Pockets? Oh I demand payment up front with no refunds and if anyone objects I use the hired security I have protecting me to "disappear them."

Heck, why would there even be medical schools in this type of world? Why actually study to be an engineer when anyone can just claim to be one?

Trick question. There won't be Doritos under anarchism because they are a symbol of capitalist oppression.
 
Why would the Canadian police need to stir up anarchists to smash windows and have them arrested? Anarchists are nothing. They're less of a nuisance to the state than graffiti artists.

Well, I prefer my donkeys in crates but I'm anticipating a great crate shortage in this dystopic wasteland anarchist utopia we're talking about.
 
Ny thinking is that people who long for anarchy only do so because they never have experienced it.

Let them live without well-regulated food, utilities, medicine, fire and police departments, insurance etc. for a couple months and they would be weeping in the streets for someone to do a little governing.

I am doubtful. I suspect that experienced doctors would take on apprentices - sort of like the current system of internship but much longer.
