central Texas in July - Houston North with a stop for Chocolate Pecan Pie in a town whose name eludes me right now. No problem with cold keeping at all. About 6/7 years ago on an SF con run out center US way.
ETA: As to West Texas, yes but further (12 or 13) years ago. No problems with any cold stuff in the vehicle either. It helps that I know the principles of insulation, I guess!
The chocolate pecan pie town is Corsicana and the place that sells it is left(west) of the Interstate if you are going N.. They specialize in really good baked stuff.

And whatever you think of the stuff passed off as Fruitcake in blocks at your grocery store each December, these (and the ones I bake) are delicious, rich and full flavoured and (the ones I bake) dangerous for alcoholics (I have used Chivas for soaking a fuit cake - it was divine)(do not take the word soaking as literal/reality!!).
