9/11 Truth as a religion

1. Thou shalt have no other Twoofs before me.
2. Thou shalt not make unto thee a complete theory graven into stone that beareth any resemblance with the facts.
3. Thou shalt not question nor doubt evidence nor conclusions of thy twoof.
4. Thou shalt not blaspheme against thy lords or profits prophets of thy faith.
5. Thou shalt not seek medical help.
6. Thou shalt not commit disinfo.
7. Thou shalt not get an education.
8. Thou shalt not bear accurate witness towards thy neighbor.
9. Thou shalt not ever admit you were thou wast mistaken.
10. Thou shalt not answer a simple question.

There are no religiously based documentaries that I have ever seen that contain (well over) 30 highly qualified scientists arguing such consistently coherent points.

And no twoofer ones either. I've yet to see a single coherent point from a twoofer. Not one. Just lies and more lies.

I've met my fair share of religious fools on both sides of this argument, but to label all people (on either side) as religious is absurd.

I find there to be no essential difference at all. Both have absolute conviction that they are right but cannot ever offer credible evidence to support their assertions. Religion and Twooferism are just different symptoms of the same disease.

Dylan Avery as doubting Thomas?
Mike Gravel as Methuselah?
Dick Gregory as Al Sharpton / himself?

is there any deadly sins in the truth movement?

Heresy is the big one. Heresy is rife among truthers, and is punishable by excommunication. For example, if a truther claims that the Twin Towers were brought down solely by explosives and that this contradicts the theory that they were brought down solely by thermite, he will be ostracised and dubbed a disinformation agent.

(Strangely, though, if he claims that the Twin Towers were brought down solely by explosives and that this is totally consistent with the theory that they were brought down solely by thermite, no sin has been committed and he may remain among the faithful.)

Seven deadly sins of the 9/11 truth religion. Truthers resorting to any of the following are damned to spend eternity in purgatory (jref forums):

-Honesty
-Consideration
-Reason
-Heresy
-Coherence
-Common Sense
-Humor

I almost posted this off-topic in another thread, where a truthy person was using logical fallacies, but I thought a new topic might last a bit longer. I think it was Myriad (in one of the video analysis threads) that analyzed 9/11 truth as a religion, but without the benefits of an afterlife. It really is the best description.

Just for the record, I don't recall analyzing 9/11 truth as a religion, in any serious way (though I might have cast a metaphor or two in that direction).

However, I did evaluate the peculiar (even by 9/11 conspiracist standards) argumentation of Major_Tom as the construction of a new form of occultism, in this post.

Myriad said:
But this is the first time I've seen all the pieces needed for full-blown outright occultism explicitly and unashamedly assembled in one place. A promise to wake people up to reality, a path to do it via learning and affirmation of arcana, and at least the first level of revelation (total mystery).

That applies only and specifically to Major_Tom's claims and arguments (possibly also to femr2's but that relationship is not at all clear), which I found inexplicable in any other way yet so consistent with occult systems that I believe observing the process of M_T's evolving argument has deepened my own understanding of how past occult systems might have emerged.

Of course, that is not at all inconsistent with the rest (or a large portion of the rest) of 9/11 conspiracism representing a religion. Major_Tom's belief structure would then be to 9/11 truth, something like the Kaballah as adopted by the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn is to Judaism.

Respectfully,
Myriad

... I can't seem to find any other "religion" that has so many scientists speaking directly about it in such scientific terms. For example I just watched a recent two hour long documentary about this very subject, it only interviews very qualified scientists, and ends with various testimonies from the families of 9/11 victims. Unless I can find a rebuttal to the points there-in I'm still going to remain skeptical of the official story. ...
People who fall for the video, they lack knowledge to understand the video is nonsense. Are you fooled by idiots on 911? 911 truth is pure nonsense, a religion of anti-intellectual claptrap presented by a few fringe conspiracy theorist. 19 terrorists did 911, a simple plot a few nuts (911 truth) can't figure out. Flight 93 Passengers figured out 911 in minutes, why are some unable to figure out 911 given 10 years, the answers, and all the evidence.

Many are fooled by 911 truth, they occur at a rate of less than 0.1 percent of engineers, less than a one percent of pilots, and then a few who refuse to make an effort to see 911 truth presenting garbage, with no evidence to support their failed claims. The video you presented says there was thermite. Zero was found. There were zero thermite products at the WTC. Have you been fooled by idiots who make up lies based on nonsense?

You will find no evidence to support the points made in the video. Failed points, fantasy. 911 truth, a religion that celebrates lies, ignorance, and gullibility. Like some nuts claiming 2+2=green, you decide be skeptical of 4.

I don't agree with the whole 9/11 truth thing, I just don't agree with the idea that the people that I see supporting it are doing it as it's a religion. That's why my last posts might have come across a bit strong.

They lack the self-awareness, so they don't practice it as a religion.
