I am still debating with Japanese troofers and one of them brought up this article,
http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn?pagename=article&contentId=A6632-2004May6
"FAA Managers Destroyed 9/11 Tape"

What's so important about this tape?
Nothing ...
From the article:
Six air traffic controllers provided accounts of their communications with hijacked planes on Sept. 11, 2001, on a tape recording
The actual tapes of the FAA communications are still around. The tapes were them talking about 911. The real evidence is still on tape, just the controllers accounts on tape were destroyed. The controllers can still talk about what they said.

These tapes are after the fact stuff, not the actual communications with the jets, the FAA tapes of aircraft communication were not destroyed.

The article speaks for itself and says nothing important.

FAA Managers Destroyed 9/11 Tape
Recording Contained Accounts of Communications With Hijacked Planes
"Accounts of", not the actual communication tape.
"Accounts of" does not mean the FAA tapes of the communications with the aircraft were destroyed, it means the tapes of the controller talking about 911 were destroyed. Not real time evidence from 911.

This is a non story, it is BS piece to spark controversy over not much after reading the article.

Someone quickly looking at the article may think 911 taped communication with the planes were destroyed; Those communications are still on tape and available.
The tapes are not important since the controllers still presented their written testimony and are able to talk about 911. This is a no issue 911Truth failure.

Maybe the "Washington Post" was fishing for a story, and failed. They must miss the Watergate Pulitzer Prize feeling!

Someone else can say this better; jump in!

This is typical truther cherry-picking. They choose a Washington Post story from one day that poses several questions, and ignore another from the very next day that provides at least some answers. Beachnut's explained the basics, but see http://www.911myths.com/index.php/FAA_destroyed_tapes for just a little more.

Thanks for the link!

I'm quite new to the whole twoof stuff and had no idea that www.911myths.com was there... although I ought to have guessed, really

Anyhoo...

Thanks Mike!

Then I should say it's my site, I guess! Hopefully you'll find other useful bits, too. Though I'd focus on the new side, www.911myths.com/index.php , rather than the ancient HTML www.911myths.com version (I'll clean it up eventually, but right now I'm going through the longest site migration in web history).

It's a small world... but it'll take a while to paint!

Wow!

Cool!

I've just looked at the source code of both, you're doing a good job! The transition from a table based layout is never much fun... hang in there!

Are you familiar with HTML Tidy?

When editing HTML it's easy to make mistakes. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a simple way to fix these mistakes automatically and tidy up sloppy editing into nicely layed out markup? Well now there is! Dave Raggett's HTML TIDY is a free utility for doing just that. It also works great on the atrociously hard to read markup generated by specialized HTML editors and conversion tools, and can help you identify where you need to pay further attention on making your pages more accessible to people with disabilities.

<snip/>

Layout style

Tidy starts by building a clean parse tree from the source file. The parse tree doesn't contain any information about the original layout. Tidy then pretty prints the parse tree using the current layout options.

Not really, all I've done is change tools. The old site was the horrible default look generated by NetObjects Fusion, the new look is generated by Mediawiki, with one or two extensions added for good measure (like the media player). So HTML Tidy can't help, unfortunately.

Hmmm... I would be inclined to try first... apologies if you already have... not intending to come across as a presumptuous know-it-all here... its just that I am! :p

Hmmm... I would be inclined to try first...
But I'm not generating the pages, that's what I'm saying: MediaWiki is. I give it my content, which mostly isn't in HTML form, and this is stored in a central database. When you request a particular page this is extracted from the database and Mediawiki generates the necessary HTML to display it. So while HTML Tidy might produce interesting reports, I can't use them directly (unless I want to rewrite Mediawiki's rendering engine, anyway, and I'd really rather not).

Ahhh... another vote for 'a little knowledge is a dangerous thing'

I will now:
  • reiterate my hopes for a speedy and relatively painless transition
I will now:
  • say thanks for all the effort
I will now:
  • STFU
:)

Ahhh... another vote for 'a little knowledge is a dangerous thing'
Hmm, not sure what that means? And of course I wasn't asking you to "STFU", just trying to explain why HTML Tidy wouldn't work in my situation, but it seems either you're missing my point, or I'm miunderstanding yours...?

Beachnut's explained the basics, but see http://www.911myths.com/index.php/FAA_destroyed_tapes for just a little more.

Thank you very much!!

So you already have this subject on your site.
I should have searched more carefully...
I will read it.

The problem is that troofers put up so many subjects at once and I am having a hard time catching up with debunking.

Now they started to claim "Al-Qaeda does not exist!!":(
headache...

I will keep on translating them into Japanese.
What are you doing with these translations? I know you said you're a Skeptic's Wiki editor - will they be saved there somewhere? I'll happily link to them, if so.

Not an entire translation but just a summary.
I am gathering debunking information for Japanese skeptics.

They are written in Japanese, but I think you can see that there are lots of links to the debunking sites.

Unfortunately I know no Japanese at all, but I translated a couple of pages at Google and it gave me a good idea of what you're doing. (And you're right, just from the links and references we can see you're doing a thorough job.)

Here's the actual clip. Some of the Japanese will understand this too I think. A picture tells a thousand words.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTTgpsAs4_c&feature=related Power of Nightmares Clip

Anyone that post an 8 minute clip out of a 3 hour video without telling the viewer and without providing a URL to the full video is probably trying to take something out of context and spin it and prevent the viewer from coming to his own conclusion.

That's what the Half Truth Movement does and Bill is a sucker for all of it.

Here is a link to all three hours.

I recommend watching all of it. I bet Bill never has.
