Initiated by Basayev who was essentially the head of A. Carried out by B. Head of A eventually killed by C.

Anyone who would speculate that the FSB was responsible has a really bad understanding of exactly how much Putin hates Chechen Muslim seperatists groups in general and Shamil Basayev in particular.

The American media didn't cover it too much, so when asked who had done it, many might say "don't know." Just like other non-Western countries may not have too good of an idea who carried out 9/11. They may not even know who "al-Qaeda" is, like many American don't know who Basayev is. So when people from other countries say they "don't know" who was responsible for 9/11, it has nothing to do with 9/11 Woo. It means just that--they don't know.

Didn't want to put this in the other thread. I'd just be feeding a troll.

You make a good point. I will admit that for the most part I have no idea what is going on in Chechnya and that I have only vaguely heard of Basayev.

The man's worm food now. The FSB paid one of his cronies to betray him.

FSB/SVR had a pretty good inclination he was going to attempt a truck bomb attack during the G8 summit in St. Petersburg in 2006.

There's a little ambiguity about how the explosion that killed him was set off. Interfax reported that a car bomb next to his convoy blew up. FSB's line was that their mole planted the FSB's detonator into the explosives of the truck intended for he alleged G8 plot.

Either way, he sploded real good.

Thanks. I knew the guy is dead but only after wikipediaing him after he was brought up here.

Good thing for him too. Russian Human Rights is an oxymoron.

Rigging a gymnasium full of kids with explosives. *spit* Bastards.

I saw the assault live on CNN. I cried when I saw the soldiers came running back, carrying the children in every which way back to safety.

Hee hee! Unlike bitter sweet, torturing, imprisonment without trial or charge, US "Human Rights"...

Okay, we get it. You're a bitter Muslim lady. Now let's try to make a post that actually contributes to the discussion...

The U.S. does not terrorize schools full of children, holding them hostage and rigging the place with explosives.

On those unfortunate and sad occasions where non-combatants are killed during the course of military operations, it's important to note that these people are not targeted by the operation.

Your "freedom fighters" very purposefully set up weapons caches and bases of operations next to schoolyards, mosques, marketplaces so that any military assault will invariably result in noncombatant casualties.

Where is your indignancy for the Baathist regime that tortured and killed countless Shia and Sunni Muslims? Where is your indignancy towards those Shia and Sunni leaders in Iraq that are killing women and children with indiscriminately placed I.E.D.s on Iraqi roads and marketplaces? Does your outrage extend towards Hamas and Lebanese Hezbollah who routinely fire 107mm Katyusha rockets into Israeli population centers? Do you feel enraged at the Ayatollah who sent children running by the hundreds into a mined strip of desert on the Iran/Iraq border?

I'm just trying to see if you are angry about all senseless violence in the world, or just the violence brought on by the actions of the West.

The only comparison between terrorist acts such as 9/11 and the Chechen event, with acts of torturing enemy combatants, is that both are wrong. That is where the comparison ends.

It is a weak, silly, and frankly STUPID argument, to compare the two, as the magnitude of how wrong one is compared to the other is extreme. On one hand you have the torturing of a single or few individuals, who themselves are at the very least suspected of terrorist acts, and are members of a terrorist organization, versus the killing of hundreds, thousands of INNOCENT PEOPLE.

TAM:)

No, the US terrorizes entire countries full of children and gives them brightly colored bomblets for to play with.

If you're speaking of cluster munitions, I tend to agree with you. As awesome as they are to watch in operation, and as effective as they are at anti-personnel missions, far too many of them fall unexploded. Shouldn't be happening, but even the most precise of weaponry misses its mark sometimes. That's the hell of war.

As for our terrorizing them, that is an unfortunate side affect of a military campaign. Comparing a bombing raid against a paramilitary target to the Breslan hostage crisis doesn't add up. Those Chechens specifically targeted a school full of children. If a child dies by our hand in war, it's because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time - but they were never targeted. Unfortunate and horrible - but not intentional.

I feel this discussion with you is going to fall on whether or not war is acceptable in any situation. You seem to be very libertarian and anti-war. I hate war myself. I also hate changing the litterbox, but it has to be done sometimes. That said, I won't waste my breath trying to convince you that war is ever necessary. That'd be a hard sell to anyone who's ever been touched by it. I make no apologies for my own belief in the necessity of armed conflict however and firmly stand by the actions of my government's military personnel as long as they were acting in accordance with their orders.

Agree to disagree on this point? I don't see you as a deluded Hanoi Jane. You are certainly entitled to express your opinion on everything here - which I might add would most likely result in a beheading by the Taliban.

How would one respond to the claim that UL could not get the steel to fail during their tests? Was the foam insulation kept on during these experiments?

We were driving behind a car yesterday, and I noticed a sticker on the bumper that had red and white stripes across the top, saying 'Remember 911'. I had to turn to watch traffic, but my daughter let out a groan, and complained about it, and when I managed to look back, I noticed the bottom half, with the stars, saying 'was an inside job'.

In ABERDEEN, ffs.... Scotland is infected!!

It's down here in the South too. I was in Brighton a month ago and walked past a wall with the 'The NWO is watching' sprayed on, complete with the 'watching eye' of the pyramid. Thankfully, I went back a few days ago to find that it had been removed.

Some skeptical council workers, or the global conspiracy has reached Brighton and Hove City Council?

I thought the "Truth Movement" is dead, had failed? There are enough threads around here proclaiming as much.
