Well, Fever Tree Mixers deny sponsoring the Republican convention in Milwaukee.
The event claims Fever Tree are a partner and uses their logo, and explain that while partners don’t always donate money, they support with in-kind donations.

Which one is telling the lies?

They introduced Vance with a bit of country music. The country music folks re pretty much all MAGA. And the lyrics describe that fictional world that they think they are living in. The world of 1960. Where there were no gay cowboys.

I have pretty much put country on hold since Bush. Nothing past Cash, Dylan and Willy at our house.

The future leader of GOP? Who knows. Checking Vance's hillbilly credentials. There is drug addiction, check. Divorced parents, check. Not going to read his book.
James Donald Bowman was born on August 2, 1984, in Middletown, Ohio, to Beverly Carol (née Vance; born 1961) and Donald Ray Bowman (1959–2023). He is of Scots-Irish descent. His parents divorced when he was a toddler. Shortly afterward, Bowman was adopted by his mother's third husband, Bob Hamel, and had his name changed to James David Hamel.

Vance's childhood was marked by poverty and abuse, and his mother struggled with drug addiction.Vance and his sister Lindsey were raised primarily by his maternal grandparents, James (1929–1997) and Bonnie Vance.

Middletown is just outside Cincinnati, where I lived. The real hillbilly area does not start until the Kentucky side. This Middletown is very white suburban middle class America. Our Jewish frends lived there. That is how average Ohio life it was. it had a struggling amusement park. It was the place of our only Jimmy Buffet concert while in Ohio.

I guess they've learned not to use anything resembling rock music. That typically results in "You didn't get permission to use our music. Stop now or we'll sue." In one case, a band included "We literally hate you."

I hope it's not Fever Tree. :(

It seems an interesting decision given their likely customer base and their willingness to boycott.

Really liked his book back in the day.
This was before I learned it gave a really skewed and frankly quite patronizing view of Appalachians as short-tempered, dysfunctional, violent alcoholics. Beau of the Fifth Column pointed out recently that Dump's pick of Vance as crown prince Vice President has probably reduced his chances of Appalachians voting for him.

According to whomever is in charge of their Twitter account, they are not supporters; they are partners.

Hi Lesley, we are not sponsoring the RNC and we are not affiliated with any political party. We provide drinks to thousands of events every year; this is not a political endorsement.

We are listed as a partner of the Milwaukee Host Committee, with whom we're working to support the bars and restaurants that stock our products whilst they host events during this week's convention.

They like Kidz Bop Country. Boy bands with a Southern twang. Real country would scare them and get them angry about it "wokeness".

Hillbillies in suburban Cincinnati. Still confused. Republcan presidents never have a good economy.
But there’s a reason Bailey, Dobbins and a number of other Middletown residents say they are not especially concerned by Vance being rocketed into the political mainstream without much in the way of experience – it’s because they have complete faith in the person who picked him: Donald Trump.

“I like Trump,” says Bailey. “And I think they’ll do a lot of good work together.”

“Trump’s not a politician. He’s a businessman,” says Dobbins, who worked as a fabricator at a nearby aerospace company before retiring. “When Trump got in [in 2016], things started looking better economy-wise, business-wise. I don’t think he can be beat [in November].”

6 bankruptcies. 6 goddamned bankruptcies. Captain Kiddie Raper bankrupted the business he inherritted from his father 6 times. If he ahd jsut stepped back and hired competant people to run at least some aspects of his business, he probably would have been an actual billionaire before being able to leverage the Oval Office.

If he had done nothing but dump his fortune into an index fund he would have come out ahead of where he is now. Even by the metrics of Capitalism he is a failure.

I think Vance is trying to sleep his way to the top. Vance changed from a "Never Trump" to a boot licker just in time. Trump likes whores. Vance will fit in just fine.

The VP takes the oath of office required by Article VI Clause 3 of the Constitution. It requires that the person support and defend the Constitution against all enemies ....

If Trump is elected, he will change the VP's oath of office something like this;
I, (VP name), pledge allegiance to Donald J. Trump and to the evil for which he stands.

Then the VP will go do the voodoo that he does so well.
