Cont: 2024 Election Thread part 3

I wonder how long the Trump/Musk romance lasts. In the end, there is only room for one Alpha Male , soonere of later Trump wil turn on Musk.

I am really afrid We will have disasters because too many people in US intelligence will be unwilling to tell Trump the truth because he kills the messenger of bad news.

It says something about the announcements that Marco Rubio looks like a reasonable coice for state..in comparasion.

I think Trump's foreign policy attitud it "Let them hate, so long as they fear"as a Roman emperor said.
Problem is it did not turn out very well for Rome....
America FIrst is ultimately America Alone.
And Trump does not understand the other countires can hurt us in retailiation..a lot.

He just picked a freaking Fox News host for Defense.
I bet the professional military is thrilled with that.
Hism ain mission seems to be to end DEI and Inclusiion in the US Military. I guess bringing back a segreated Military is next.
He also appointed that nutbase Govenor of South Dakota to be Homeland defense secratary for which she is totally unqualified.
I guess loyalty to Trump is the only thing that matters.
He just put the defense of hte United States in the hands of amateurs.
A Federation of Dunces.

There is absolutely nothing false or misleading in my statement
Addressed from the start and by others since. That you've repeatedly refused to even acknowledge the points made, much less address them, is not something that lends your claim in the quoted any credence.
Election security is not to prevent one party from putting a thumb on the scale, it's to prevent any party from putting a thumb on the scale.

Election security is about a lot more than that. Yes, though, one of the major problems with the Republican Voter ID push is that it actually is one of the many methods that the Republican Party has been pushing as they try to put their thumb on the scale. It's not a solution to a demonstrated meaningful problem and it has a demonstrably negative impact on legitimate voters participating, with greater impact as the Voter ID laws are strengthened. Fearmongering and malicious empty speculation don't count, after all, and many, many investigations have consistently found that voter fraud is not actually a serious issue at all. It exists, certainly, and we should ever be on guard against such, but when lots of the Voter ID laws have been pushed through without being able to show even one actual case of voter fraud that they would have addressed? The motives pretty clearly didn't include addressing an actual issue with our elections.

This should be a bipartisan goal to secure US elections. I think you will agree that there are dishonest members of all political parties.

Sure! These are easy to agree with!

If the means to cheat exists, there will always be someone taking advantage of it until it no longer exists.

That's one of those things that sounds reasonable in principle, but has serious flaws to contend with here. One of such is how far you've stretched what qualifies. Recently in this thread, you've stretched it to the point where we may as well just change your statement here to "If there's room for human error, human error will likely happen." That's true enough, but it's also not much of a point in the first place. Related to that, you seem to have a habit of claiming that means of cheating exist that, on examination, don't really exist. The systems in place may well not be perfectly immune to cheating, but no available system is completely human-proof.

Going a bit further, I've heard certain far right propagandists try to effectively argue that no matter what it takes, illegitimate votes need to be prevented - even if thousands of legitimate votes (ones that they assume will mostly be for the Democratic Party, of course) are taken out of the picture for every illegitimate vote actually prevented. That's a cure that's much worse than the disease, though. Oh, and that was an argument made after they (and lots of others) had hyped up yet another very misleading fact that ostensibly showed illegal voting on a truly massive scale and it was shown that it didn't actually show what they claimed at all.

Obtaining an ID in the US is not exactly "adding more hoops" as anyone that's ever purchased a pack of smokes or a bottle of beer can tell you.

As noted from the start and ignored by you, millions of legitimate voters don't have such, though, foreign as that concept may be to you as you go about your life. As someone who has not purchased a pack of smokes or a bottle of beer, I'm not particularly swayed by your example, either way.

Why do I feel like the restructuring will virtually always involve removing federal agencies' ability to keep unscrupulous businesses from making lots of money in ways that make things worse for the consumers?

The thing is as a rule, I never make false statements

You claim that Bigfoot is real, while claiming that you never make false statements?

This is funny. You do know that trans-males are women who have through hormonal therapy and surgery have the physical appearance of men and that men who go through the hormonal and surgery to become women are trans-women. I don't notice much hysteria about trans-males in men sports, perhaps they should compete in womens' sports.

As for the 180 degree change. The utter hysteria over the threat of trans people is darkly amusing. The North Carolina law requiring people to use the bathrooms of their birth sex is hilarious. I know a couple of actual trans-men, with beards, hairy chests, very masculine upper body muscle, no doubt women seeing such a person using a womens washroom wouldn't find it even slightly alarming, but a trans-woman using such a washroom is a threat and must be forced to use a mens bathroom. Whatever. (P.S. now men can use womans bathrooms, just claim to be a trans-man.)

Trans people are going to find things will get worst for them, has this win will embolden the idiots.

Has for voting for Trump. I guess a lot of people thought that Trump's idiotic behavior in 2020, after the election was not a big deal. I find that disturbing.
The only conclusion that can be got from all the transphobia on the right (and some soi-disant leftists) is that they are scared little cowards, deathly afraid of anybody even slightly different.
