Cont: 2024 Election Thread part 3

They must prefer the white male. He is male, after all. And so are they.

But in all seriousness, were they ever going to vote at all?

I think the media is trying their best to make it a tight race for the ratings. This is what they did in 2016 and have ever since. They gamble with our democracy for the $$$. I think they could care less who wins, if Trump wins they might lose some freedoms of the press. However, they know if they play ball, they can still make $$$.

'Dead heat': Trump pulls even with Harris in NBC News poll

A close election has never looked more tightly divided, with Harris’ popularity declining from its previous high and abortion atop voters’ issue list.

Trump is gaining ground.

It's a fake poll. It assumes a certain male/female ratio. Women are likely to show up even more than 2020.

"I don't like Trump, but I just don't trust Democrats. They are like lawyers. In fact most of them are lawyers. Kamala..."

People have strong feelings about presidential candidates. I have heard Trump talking hundreds of times. I remember things my governor said, but I don't even remember what he sounds like. Trump I have even developed a sort of tolerance for. If Vance speaks, I turn off the sound.

Trump is gaining ground.

Really?

The NBC News poll of 1,000 registered voters, 898 of whom were reached by cellphone

90% of people contacted by cellphone? There's your problem: almost everyone under 30 I know does not answer numbers they don't have saved in their contacts, so a lot of calls will have been unanswered, and at a time when youth vote is such an overwhelmingly supportive demographic for Harris, I'm cool with the numbers as they stand. Old people always answer their phones and vote Trump.

I think that poll says nothing about reality, but appearing close will aid Democrats and hurt Republicans.

Keep it up!

You can probably multiply that by 2

I'm old but have a spam filter which catches the pollsters calling and I most certainly don't vote Trump. But saying that, I agree that under 40's do the same thing I do as far as filtering out pollsters calling.

I suspect the people who do answer their phones are the ones with no friends, i.e. Republicans.

Meanwhile, the economic plan analyses are in: https://www.huffpost.com/entry/trum...deficit-economists_n_670d4c30e4b0aa1736e5e825

From your link:

Former President Donald Trump’s plans to pump up American manufacturing and cut taxes would result in higher inflation, fewer factory jobs and a bigger budget deficit, according to a survey of prominent economists.

Of 50 economists in a Wall Street Journal survey, 68% said Trump’s policies would mean inflation would likely be higher, while only 12% said that about Vice President Kamala Harris’ proposals.

Yet people erroneously believe Trump would be better for the economy.

Because they think like JD Vance. They don't need experts and analysts telling them how the economy works, it's just common sense....

The tariffs are a terrible idea and would indeed lead to higher inflation. That said a lot of people are still hoping that the manufacturing jobs will come back, and tariffs are often seen as a way of promoting domestic manufacturing (which it does by rendering imported good more expensive). This is why unions have opposed free trade agreements like NAFTA.

Trump Calls For Harris To Take Cognitive Test

Former President Trump said Monday that Vice President Harris should take a cognitive test, as the Harris campaign hammers him for his refusal to release his own detailed medical records and questions his fitness for office. “I believe it is very important that Kamala Harris pass a test on Cognitive Stamina and Agility,” Trump posted on Truth Social, baselessly claiming that “her actions have led many to believe that there could be something very wrong with her.”

Trump repeated a claim that “60 Minutes” wrongfully changed an answer Harris gave about Israel in an interview last week. The network aired Harris’s full answer in a preview clip that was made available online, and it aired a shorter, more concise answer from Harris on the topic during its full broadcast. “Also, she is slow and lethargic in answering even the easiest of questions,” Trump wrote. “We just went through almost four years of that, we shouldn’t have to do it again!”

Oh dear. Pass the Burnt Umber fake tan spray please.

The media are ok with T****y, they're rich white guys, he's a "rich" white guy, what's not to like?

At Trump's town hall event in Oaks, Pennsylvania, after answering a few questions and a couple of medical emergencies in the crowd accompanied by the playing of Ave Maria, Trump spent about half an hour standing on stage looking vague and dancing to YMCA, Sinead O'Connor and Guns N Roses.

Trump said "Let's not do any more questions. Let's just listen to music. Who the hell wants to hear questions?"

A Aaron Rupar says 'some weird ****' went on.
Completely bizarre.
