"A little baby came up to me. A big manly baby right out of central cast. And with tears in his eyes, he said to me 'sir, I never cry, sir. But I am crying now, sir. You have made childcare truly great again, sir.'"

Goddamn liberals. You don't want to pay impossible prices for childcare. You don't want your children gunned down in schools so you don't have to pay ANYTHING for childcare. Make up your mind.

Well the objectivity is that polls have shown a steady rise in Harris' numbers...

Not really. She had a steep rise that began the day of Biden's announcement and peaked during the convention. It's been leveling off since.

Trump does say that he’ll take care of child care? That’s probably enough for many people to vote for him :(

It reminds me of the Pinky & the Brain cartoon "Meet John Brain", in which Brain runs for President and all his authoritarian proclamations are heard as beneficial promises.

"When I take over the country, everyone will work for me!"
"He means jobs! For everyone!"

"If people oppose me, I’ll teach them a lesson!"
"Thank goodness. He’s for better education!"

"So surrender quietly and no one will be hurt!"
"Uh, no one will be sick! Yes! Healthcare! Great healthcare!"

I think I just saw a pig flying by. Not only is LIZ Cheney voting for Harris, but she also says her father, DICK Cheney is.

"Dick Cheney will be voting for Kamala Harris," the former Wyoming congresswoman said Friday during an interview at the Texas Tribune Festival when asked in an interview if she knew who her father would vote for.

"If you think about the moment that we’re in, and you think about how serious this moment is, my dad believes and he’s said publicly that there’s never been an individual in our country who is as grave a threat to our democracy as Donald Trump is," Cheney said. "And that’s the moment that we’re facing."

Liz Cheney is also supporting Ted Cruz's Democrat opponent, Colin Allred:
The former congresswoman also said during her Friday interview with The Atlantic's Mark Leibovich that she would support Rep. Colin Allred, D-Texas, in his Senate bid in the state. Allred is challenging Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, who has served in the Senate since 2013.

"Here in Texas you guys do have a tremendous, serious candidate running for the United States Senate, and his name is —" she paused as the audience cheered and Leibovich asked them to let her speak.

"It’s not Ted Cruz," she said.

Cheney went on to praise Allred's credentials, noting the time she served in the House with him.

"We need people who are going to serve in good faith," Cheney said. "We need people who are honorable public servants, and in this race, that is Colin Allred. So I’ll be working on his behalf."

i think you underestimate their reach. and if the russians are willing to pay that kind of money to these guys, what do you think they're paying the bigger ones?

in 2016 it was a conspiracy theory of liberal tears, but it's concrete proof of russian election interference once again. now i look at who's repeating the same talking points and wonder what other shell companies are out there, tucker carlson.

I think this kind of video pretty much just preaches to the converted anyway.

Apparently, Trumps favourite racist, Nick Fuentes is threatening to wage 'war' on Trump's campaign.

TYT YouTube vid

For those who prefer text over video:
White nationalist Nick Fuentes blasted Trump Sept. 4 for admitting that he lost the 2020 election, and said that he will work to get voters not to back Trump.

"So, why did we do Stop the Steal? Why did did anyone go to Jan. 6? Why did any one go to jail? ... It would have been good to know that before 1,600 people got charged," Fuentes said on his podcast, referring to the criminal charges for those who invaded and ransacked the Capitol. "It would’ve been good to know that before (I) had all my money frozen, put on a no-fly list, banned from everything, lost all my bank and payment processing.”

Fuentes, a podcaster and Holocaust denier who dined with Trump and the notorious rapper Ye at Mar-a-Lago property in Palm Beach, Fla., in 2022 went on to call it a "tremendous betrayal" and "callus indifference to the sacrifices that his supporters made on his behalf."

My impression is that those paid influencers, what used to be called "independent media" (a joke of a label for a while now) on the
Right have captured a sizeable chunk of the young men's vote.

I can't think of a single reactionary male ******* aged 19-40 who isn't hooked on one of those guys' podcasts, YouTube channel, Instagram, etc.

Actually, the polls have not shown a steady rise for Harris. As Nate Silver wrote today:

Harris is ahead by 3.0 points nationally, a tick better than the 2.3-point lead she had coming into the convention. Although I’d note that this is down a bit, too. Her lead peaked at 4.3 points on August 23 in our last model run before Robert F. Kennedy dropped out and we removed him from our model. Still, her national polls are fine; it’s the state polls that are the big issue.

In fact, relative to the start of the DNC, Harris has lost ground in 6 of these 7 [swing] states.

But even if Harris had been steadily rising in the polls, that would be no reason to think that that trend would continue. Rarely, is it correct to extrapolate a trend to the future. Certainly not in election polling.

Let's see how likely voters and actual voters compare in November. Many that had planned to vote for Trump will not show up at all after the debate.

"Dick Cheney? Never heard of him. Maybe he brought me Diet Coke once or twice."

I'd love to see Dubya endorse her next.
That would be nice. My tiny respect for him (essentially a negative respect of the "he turned out not to be the very worst after all" sort) would grow a little bit if he grew a pair himself.

Trump says

“At the suggestion of Elon Musk — I will create a Government efficiency Commission tasked with conducting a complete financial and performance audit of the entire federal government and making recommendations for drastic reforms. Elon.. has agreed to head that task force”

In the video it continues, ..."if he has the time, it would be great if he could do it."

Trump's probably just blowing more of some of the hot air they exchanged during their X Spaces talk.

Yup

I'm not loving how everything is still basically pointing to "It's basically going to come down to Pennsylvania and maybe Wisconsin in 99% of scenarios" and Harris's lead in both states is THERE but not huge and counting on Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan to serve as a Blue Wall was exactly how we lost 2016 and a lot of likely scenarios have a very small Electoral margin of victory, enough so a few faithless electors and electoral shenanigans could tip it or at the very least cause months of headache.

I'm MORE confident than I was a few weeks ago, but it's still way closer than I'd like.
