I just read the details on the Influencers who were paid by the Russias, and I have a certian kind of respect for them; they did a good job of conning the Russians into overpaying for their services. A Hundred Thousand a Month fo rmaking one video which few watched anyway????

i think you underestimate their reach. and if the russians are willing to pay that kind of money to these guys, what do you think they're paying the bigger ones?

in 2016 it was a conspiracy theory of liberal tears, but it's concrete proof of russian election interference once again. now i look at who's repeating the same talking points and wonder what other shell companies are out there, tucker carlson.

Q: What specific legislation will you commit to to make child care affordable?

Trump: Well, I would do that and we're sitting down, you know, I was, somebody, we had Marco Rubio and my daughter, Ivanka… But I think when you talk about the kind of numbers that I'm talking about that because the child care is, child care couldn't, you know, there's something you have to have it in this country, you have to have it... I want to stay with child care… So we'll take care of it. Thank you.

I tried to read the entire unedited transcript of that answer and my brain went numb half way through.

What is it with the curent GOP faces being so damn lazy? Not just dumb and out of their depth like W. Not playing dumb to pander like John Kennedy. I mean like dumb and can't even bother to fake being smart and then revelling in being stupid. When they try to answer a question, they sound like stoned high schoolers who didn't do the reading assignment and are just spitting out what keywords they think the teacher wants to hear.

This is why HArris doesn't even need to discuss policy. She should and I'm glad she is, but that's not even what this election is about.

Do you want serious adults with a track record of public service, relevent experience and accomplishements, and at least an ostensiuble desire to govern for all Americans running the govenrment (even if you disagree with some of their policies)? OR do you want a bunch of immature, over grown children who are trying to strip every penny out of everything they touch and treat it all like one big party they are throwing themselves?

We're gonna have all the child care. So much health care we're gonna get sick of it.

But you are forgetting, Kamala Harris did not have a completely detailed plan of how she was going to spend her first day in office, so, you know, she's not prepared. Therefore, vote Trump.

Alas, though, one of the lasting principles I learned as a parent was "don't ask a question unless you're ready for the answer."

My (admittedly simplistic and anecdotal) take is based on the local convenience store. Look at how many people who can barely afford housing spend their money on cigarettes and lottery tickets. They're voting for the party they know they deserve, and for the privileges of the super rich they expect to become.

But you are forgetting, Kamala Harris did not have a completely detailed plan of how she was going to spend her first day in office, so, you know, she's not prepared. Therefore, vote Trump.

....and of course if she did have such a plan for Day 1 then she's arrogantly assuming victory. Therefore, vote Trump.

The problem is some sizeable percentage of the American voting population honestly and truly does want the latter.

Can I put an exact number on it? No. But you take all the:

1. "I'm a sad little cynical nihilist and my entire personality was formed when I was a 13 year old edgelord and right now everything about who I think I am is based on the idea that thinking things could get better is naive so I will actually actively fight progress to keep that fantasy going for myself."

2. "Why have a government at all? Government makes everything worse so electing a BAD government is actually better..."

3. "LOL those limp wresting liberals having a meltdown over having their lives literally ruined is so funny LOL."

... types and you have a group large enough group that we at least have to keep an eye on it.

I do remember Clinton being critcized for being "too prepared" but one of CNN's chuckleheads. But, surely, we've gotten past such nonsense, right?

Trump does say that he’ll take care of child care? That’s probably enough for many people to vote for him :(

No, no, no. It was Biden who is clearly senile.

And Vance's big idea was "Just have relatives do it!" when asked the same question.

Republicans have a stupid child's view of how solving problems works. To them everything is a simple solution that other people are overthinking.

Trump and his ilk are every idiot who's ever told a depressed person "Have you tried just not being sad?" but they are like that for everything.

He mistakes the fact that he is an idiot and doesn't understand anything for some kind of laser guided focus where he's able to see through the B.S. of the problem and offer some solution the rest of us missed but his solutions never advance beyond "Just stop having the problem, have you tried that?"

I think we should add:

4. "Jesus wants me to vote for Trump and if I don't, Jesus will throw me into the flames of Hell!"

5. "God created women to be slaves of men and there's no way I'll vote for one!"

6. "The darkies will take over the country if we don't make Trump king!"

But that's sort of my point.

The reason Trump has been such a hard political nut to counter is, I think, he has two entirely separate "bases."

Base 1. Bad people who want Trump elected so he can do bad things. These are the ones who literally want Trump in power so he can hurt women, blacks, gays, ect.

Base 2. Immature little edgy sadsacks who want Trump in power because they think it's funny, they have some stupid libertarian ideal of government being inherently bad so we deserve Trump as a punishment for wanting government at all, stuff like that.

We talk about "You have a choice between this and that" a lot. You have a choice between love and hate. You have a choice between moving forward and moving back. You have a choice between "Functional adult" and "manchild."

But you know what it really is for me? The only decision that actually matters?

You have a choice between someone who says "Making the world a better place is possible and we should try to do it" and someone who says "Everything sucks, nothing will ever get better, you are so smart for figuring out that everything sucks and will always suck, so join me and hurt the people trying to make it better."

Hey, I'm an immature little edgy sadsack! Don't you dare equate me with the Orange Blob's base!

I'd it good if your opponent's official rapid response team posts unedited videos of you answering a question?

Unless Lichtman has changed his methodology recently (and I doubt he has), his model predicts the outcome of the popular vote only, and all the major election models are predicting that Harris will probably win the popular vote.

Is that presumption based on anything objective?

Well the objectivity is that polls have shown a steady rise in Harris' numbers...but I am speculating that is the result of more people becoming familiar with her, while the contrast with Trump becomes more evident.
I was never a big supporter of Harris either in 2020 or for her VP stint, but she has won me over but running a very smart campaign and staying on point. There's no reason to think I'm the only one who has noticed she is taking the right approach.

It's a problem with the right the world over. They've run out of ideas that can be sold as something that will work for the people and countries the parties operating in. Even the far-right are just mixing in left-wing policy they've no real interest in implementing with "all immigrants are evil".

But then again, the left, for the most part, has given up all interest in pushing its ideas and policies and have in many cases become milquetoast right wing parties.

I do remember Clinton being critcized for being "too prepared" but one of CNN's chuckleheads. But, surely, we've gotten past such nonsense, right?

I saw accusations that she's going to cheat in the debate by having pages of notes, unlike Trump who can answer 'off the cuff'.
