Cont: 2024 Election Thread part 2

They are not policies. They are not even a Wishlist. They are thought bubbles Trump can repeat with abandon.

I'm glad you looked at it since I could not bear to.

Why do I need to read what crap Trump says he will do if we're stupid enough to elect him again. I remember his first campaign and the promises he made and didn't do. I remember all too well, how he said he would be this great builder and how he would be the infrastructure president and never was. How he would replace the Affordable Care Act with something far better but never proposed any legislation to Congress a better solution to Healthcare that was better than the ACA. I remember him saying he would build a wall across our Southern Border and how Mexico would pay for it and then Mexico laughed in his face.

Trump was the most racist US President since Woodrow Wilson. He was easily the most divisive President in my life. I'm confident that Harris will be a far better President than Donald Trump. But that bar is very low. There are 100s of thousands of criminals serving time in US prisons today who are better alternatives to that criminal who is presently awaiting sentencing.

Before anyone gets to demand that any regulation should be removed, they first have to research why that regulation was put into place originally.
Regulations don't grow on trees, they are the reaction to sometimes that should not be allowed to happen in the future.
If you think a regulation is no longer necessary, or its aim could be achieved by less costly means, please let us know.
But just doing away with something because it bothers you just means you want someone else to suffer the consequences for your actions.

What is the other "deeply unsettling mutilated animal corpse story" about RFK Jr. (this time involving a whale)?
It's from an interview with his daughter.

https://www.townandcountrymag.com/society/tradition/a924/kick-kennedy-interview/

Kick's taste for the extreme was fed by her dad's eccentric environmentalism. Exhibit A: When she was six, word got out that a dead whale had washed up on Squaw Island in Hyannis Port. Bobby — who likes to study animal skulls and skeletons — ran down to the beach with a chainsaw, cut off the whale's head, and then bungee-corded it to the roof of the family minivan for the five-hour haul back to Mount Kisco, New York. "Every time we accelerated on the highway, whale juice would pour into the windows of the car, and it was the rankest thing on the planet," Kick recalls. "We all had plastic bags over our heads with mouth holes cut out, and people on the highway were giving us the finger, but that was just normal day-to-day stuff for us."

You can like his policies or not, but my point is at least he has policies: a 25-point summary of them on his website here, and a 16-page elaboration of then here.

You might not like what's there, but at least there is something there.

Harris has yet to present any policy idea whatsoever on her website. There is nothing there. There is no evidence to date that with Harris there is any there there al all.

25-point programme?

Hmmm...I did NAZI that coming.

What? Trump is making this promise:

Unite our country by bringing it to new and record levels of success

What's odd is that one is number 20.

jt512 promised a 25-point plan, but there seem to be 5 missing.

I suppose he was thinking of someone different. Easy to do, as even JD Vance was confused about that.

She's been in the race for 5 minutes. Trump has been in the business of running for president non stop for like 10 years now.

Another aspect showing how at every scale, Trump's campaign is full of vile behaviour, disregarding the law.

https://www.npr.org/2024/08/27/nx-s1-5091154/trump-arlington-cemetery

Two members of Donald Trump's campaign staff had a verbal and physical altercation Monday with an official at Arlington National Cemetery, where the former president participated in a wreath-laying ceremony, NPR has learned.

In a statement to NPR, Arlington National Cemetery said it "can confirm there was an incident, and a report was filed."

"Federal law prohibits political campaign or election-related activities within Army National Military Cemeteries, to include photographers, content creators or any other persons attending for purposes, or in direct support of a partisan political candidate's campaign," according to the statement. "Arlington National Cemetery reinforced and widely shared this law and its prohibitions with all participants."

Yeah, what Vice President, period, much less one of an octogenarian with dementia would have no ideas about what they would do if they became the next president? Answer: one who really has no ideas about what they would do.

The lefties who dominate this forum are too ignorant to recognize this for what it is: traditional, small-government, libertarianism. They are so stuck in their left-wing bubble that they assume that you can't be sincere about your concerns and must therefore be trolling. I'm guessing they unironically claim about the country being too polarized.

There is a very real disconnect between the reality of Trump's record and promises and why many say that they support him. Insincerity is indeed one of the ways to bridge that gap, though certainly not the only one.

It certainly is not. Nor is pandering to voters with infeasible, populist economic proposals, like price controls on groceries.

Harris's website still does not list a single policy position. She has given us no reason to believe that she is anything but an empty suit.

Harris' website DOES, in fact, detail a bit about what Harris and Walz have done, though, and thus the general course they intend. Whining about how they haven't gone into detail, there, though, is a bit worthy of an eye-roll, though, especially given the time scale in play.

One might, in fact, suspect that some are still sour after the embarrassment of the Republican Party platform having been little more than "Heil Trump!" and are trying to pretend that Democrats are just as bad or worse, yet again, and so are happy to seize upon and spout unreasonable BS.

Trump swears the detail of project 2025 has nothing to do with him.

Going a bit further to focus on the people other than the top 1% - only the top 10% would likely benefit from the Project 2025's tax reform proposals. The other 90% of Americans would end up with less after tax income after the changes, before other factors come into play, with significant gains by the wealthiest and significant losses to those with the least.

But everyone knows that just working that little bit harder, doing just a few more hours a week at Walmart and you'll be in that top 10% like the self-made, pulled-up-their-bootlaces billionaires like Trump.

You do know that there is a Democratic Party Platform, just as there is a Republican Party one, right?

Maybe it didn't stand out as much because it wasn't written in ALL CAPS.
