Barack Hussein Obama, he was nasty to me. He was nasty. Michelle was nasty. They're all nasty. Nasty people. I was surprised, I thought he was, I was sort of nice to him, I said no, you know, I like him, ok, it didn't matter. They were nasty to me

Trump is the ultimate example of someone who is totally self-unaware.

"Self-awareness is the recognition of one's own emotional state at any given point in time. People who lack self-awareness may have to be the center of attention, be in control, and frequently make negative comments without a filter. Signs of lack of self-awareness include playing the victim card, compulsive need to control everything, and not listening to feedback or criticism from others. Lack of self-awareness can manifest in various ways in everyday life, such as being unaware of how one's emotions, words, or actions affect others".

I'd be surprised if Trump is not used as an example of mental/personality disorders in psychology/psychiatry courses in the future. They'd need at least a semester dedicated entirely to him. And another semester dedicated to the psychology of his supporters.

He should donate his brain for science - in his lifetime.

I know that "The worst thing about Trump is..." has been said so many times the phrase has lost all meaning but in a very real sense this is, to me, the worst thing about Trump.

The man was the President of the sole remaining superpower on the back of, like it or not, one of the most genre breaking political runs in modern American history... and he learned nothing from it. Not one shred of the weight of being President ever hit the man.

Being a terrible person is bad.

Being a terrible person and going through one of the biggest things a person can go through and still be terrible is worse.

Being a terrible person, going through one of the biggest things a person can go through, and still being THE EXACT SAME terrible person is frankly mind boggling.

Stripped of all the terrible, terrible consequences and just looking at it neutrally making an insane Cinderella run to the office of President of United States and holding that office for 4 years and being part of some of the biggest political events in modern American history should not be a series of events a person goes through and comes out the other end THE EXACT SAME PERSON, good or bad. NOBODY should be big enough to have that not affect them.

Obama was a good President. George W. Bush was a bad President. But both of them left office different people. The weight of what responsibility they held and power they wielded got to them on some level. Obama left office obviously less idealistic, and Bush left office more mature. And both men were... I don't want to say "humbled" because that has specific negative connotations, I'm not trying to put across but something like it. "Perspectived" if I may be forgiven for verbing a noun is close, I think.

Hell, I honestly don't think that Trump understands that people don't like him in a real, true, human emotional level. I honestly think that turd still wakes up every morning thinking there are only two types of people; people who worship and "haters" who only hate him because they are jealous but deep down inside want to be him.

I could never like Trump on any level or give him the single moment of respect, but if he would just show one single brief moment of self-reflection that would be something. Some tiny moment of humanity one could connect with if only on the hypothetical or philosophical level.

But the bastard won't even give us THAT.

Who is negotiating for us in the Middle East? Bombs are dropping all over the place! Sleepy Joe is sleeping on a Beach in California, viciously Exiled by the Democrats, and Comrade Kamala is doing a campaign bus tour with Tampon Tim, her really bad V.P. Pick. Let’s not have World War lll, because that’s where we’re heading!

Comrade Kamala will obliterate Social Security and Medicare by giving it away to the Millions of Illegal Immigrants who are infiltrating our Country!

There will be no future under Comrade Kamala Harris, because she will take us into a Nuclear World War III! She will never be respected by the Tyrants of the World!

I keep telling ya - everywhere is in play.

Reagan beat Carter 489-49.

Kamala's tsunami has that kind of potential.

Carter didn't have a core of loonies who would do anything he commands, even kill for him.

There's no point in making electoral college predictions. I just hope she gets enough so that Trump and his minions can't overturn it no matter what they do.

I get the impression that this should be laughed at as a terrible joke.

After all, virtually no leader at all is likely to actually respect Trump.

I just watched a video of 8 undecided voters living in eastern PA. After watching Harris' speech on Thursday night, 6 said they'd decided to vote for Harris, one said she would likely not vote at all, and one said he was voting for Trump. Interestingly, the one man who said he was voting for Trump said he didn't think Harris was "ready" and should wait. Apparently, being a senator and a VP isn't "ready" enough but Trump causing chaos, division, being a felon, sexual abuser and inciting a coup makes him "ready".

While I refuse to make electoral predictions. I hope for far more than a narrow Harris win. I hope to see the Trump, MAGA and the GOP take an epic beating that will force the Republican party to move away from the divisive politics they have been pushing. I was working for the Washington State Democratic Party on the night of that beating in 1980. I helped organize the last stop of Jimmy Carter campaign. It was at the Flightcraft Airplane hangar at Boeing Field.

We lost a lot of Democratic icons that night. Like Senator Birch Bayh of Indiana, Senator Mo Udahl of Utah, Washington State's Warren G Magnuson who was the most Senior Senator in the US Senate and Pro Temp.

Tides turn. I'm hoping for a sea change like that one. But if we're honest, three months out everyone was predicting a close race in 1980. It was only the last couple of weeks where I started to get worried that Carter was going to lose. And I certainly didn't believe it was going to be the wipeout it was until election day.

I'm hoping that the Harris Walz ticket can pull off something similar.

I don't think that's going to matter.

By election day another few thousand of them will have croaked and been replaced by twice as many new voters, and new voters love Kamala/Walz.

Trump & MAGA are going to be destroyed in a truly epic way. I have a container load of crying towels organised for them. They're going to beaten so badly that any claims of rigging will be laughed at even nu the morons.

2016 rhetoric EXACTLY.

We've been waiting on this mythical wave of young blue voters to save us for... well forever on any timeline worth discussing for our purposes in this topic. It's been the political "Ghost Army from Return of the King" for decades. We've seen minor blips here and there, yes enough to effect elections true, but this massive wave of youth voters that upends everything ain't ever going to happen.

The fact that we were so sure (yes we were, shut up) that Trump was going to lose in 2016 was a large part of how he was able to hurt us so bad. Don't meal prep the crow.

2016 rhetoric EXACTLY.

and 2020 rhetoric. Which is why I correctly, if not psychically, predicted that absent a huge landslide win in 2020, Jan 6 was sure to follow and we would be in the position we are now.

The only thing that gives me hope is some of the recent elections (KS comes to mind) where Democrats outperformed expectations.

Kamala is no Hillary. She has a much better chance than Clinton did in 2016.

That could go either way. She did not have the stigma Clinton had (largely due to years of right wing talking points) but Clinton did have much more familiarity with the public. Harris has been doing very well at presenting herself as legit, hoepefully she keeps the momentum going, but there are still many out there who feel (justified or not) that their sacred rights to chose their candidate were taken away by Biden dropping out.

Probably. Polls had her 4% above Trump. Exactly where Kamala is today. And let's hope RFK won't change the polls much, I think he won't.
Trump will most likely again perform better than polled. The worse image Trump has in the media, the less people will admit they will vote for him. And Trump's image is way worse than in 2016, and in 2020.
Even if Kamala had Biden's numbers, it would be clenching teeth situation. But she's 5% below!
As I said .. I just don't see it. Where does your enthusiasm come from ? Because numbers it isn't.
