Cont: 2024 Election Thread part 2

Now I want to show up to a rally with a prosthetic extra finger and a sign with garbled text just to freak them out.

One thing I did notice about this excerpt: Trump pronounces "Kamala" correctly. Which just highlights the fact that he's deliberately choosing to be rude whenever he says "KaMAHla".

I noticed that, too. Mispronouncing someone's name on purpose is just so playground bully childish. But it's right in character with Trump who has the maturity of a 10-year-old.

This is sad.

He claims it is a ‘confirmed’ fact that there was no crowd at Kamala’s Detroit event….an event of which there are many videos published by news orgs, and that it was all AI.

‘Confirmed’ he claims.

A sociopath lying to his simpleton followers

Trump’s now claiming the crowd at Harris’ latest rally was AI generated. The man is losing his mind.

Whatever helps them sleep at night at this point, already.

I don't find how crazy Trump and his supporters are getting either as funny nor as reassuring as some of you.

As long as what the Supreme Court is what it is we can't count of the balance of power having shifted back our way.

It's more complicated .. there is this image with plane .. which is not AI. Then there is another image of crowd .. which is AI .. but which was not used in any material, but it's claimed it was.
AI is certainly flexing its muscle.

I've been noticing some cracks in the usual loyalty among the arcons of Reddit. There's a lot of idle chatter about maybe looking at RFK Jr. This along with a lot of "He'd win if he'd just shut the **** up!!!" - like a lot of that.

What are the chances the Republicans will ditch Trump as a candidate?

0%?
50-99%?
1-50%?

What do you think? Likely or not likely?

Zero. You pull Trump's cult of personality out the GOP and it falls apart.

Trump IS the Republican Party right now.

I'd say 1%. This is predicated on Trump jumping up at a rally some time soon believing he is Ethel Merman. I think the party would then abandon him. And it's not really that implausible given his current mental state--one more unfavorable poll might do him in.

ETA: might as well link to it:

Again Trump isn't a candidate, he's a punishment.

The worse he gets and the worse he makes everything the better the job is he's doing.

They CAN'T. Trump would have to step down on his own. I'd say just as Joe had to. But there was a was a remote possibility that Biden could have been forced out during the convention. But not after.

I'm pretty sure that both parties have a mechanism for succession if a Presidential nominee died or was incapacitated by some illness during the campaign. But nothing that would allow the DNC or RNC ousting their own nominee.

I mentioned this a few days ago. I can't see Trump ever stepping aside for the "good of the party." The idea that Trump would ever, ever, ever do something that selfless is laughable.

Ah, I see. Pity his big funders won't stop funding him causing him to have to back out. He's nothing without money, after all.

Maybe they're tired of the *old* crazy. And with Biden out of the race, Trump is officially the "old crazy" of this election.

I think there is something to the "too old" factor. I don't think Biden is crazy. But now that the octogenarian has stepped aside, the almost octogenarian is front and center. He is the one that looks old to everyone. Especially next to the vibrancy of Harris and Walz.

Trump OTOH has been crazy for a while. But as crazy as Trump has been there has been something calculated in his craziness. It appealed to many. But the impression I have now is that people are tired of him and the craziness that goes with him.

Trump fatigue has set in.
