Statement on Donald Trump backing out of the debate

"Donald Trump is running scared and trying to back out of the debate he already agreed to and running straight to Fox News to bail him out. He needs to stop playing games and show up to the debate he already committed to on Sept 10. The Vice President will be there one way or the other to take the opportunity to speak to a prime time national audience.

We're happy to discuss further debates after the one both campaigns have already agreed to. Mr. Anytime, anywhere, anyplace should have no problem with that unless he's too scared to show up on the 10th."

 
This is of course being spun as Harris is REFUSING to debate Donald Trump on September 4th in Pennsylvania.

Her team has said they will only conduct the September 10th debate on ABC, which is a conflict of interest for Trump who is currently engaged in a lawsuit with the company.

The lawsuit predates the Trump's agreement to the debate, so now it's just an excuse.

Trump wants the debate more than Harris, but he especially wants it on his terms at his chosen venue with his moderators. Harris wants to stick with the deal they've already made, and should only agree to anything else if it's better for her, not Trump.

Basically, he's trying to negotiate a new debate deal and it's not working.
 
This is Trump trying to control the narrative and finding a Trump-friendly network. He's as subtle as...well...Donald Trump.

So does Trump really think he is fooling anyone with this? And if Harris accepts even if FOX try can they possibly stack the deck hard enough to make him look vaguely coherent and competent?
 
When he said "full arena audience", I imagined no network control over the crowd, who would be encouraged to scream and shout to try to drown out anything Vice President Harris says.

Exactly. He'd try and turn it into the only place he feels comfortable: one of his rallies attended by the Trump faithful. He's so transparent.

I'm surprised he feels comfortable at those now, considering what happened at one a short time ago. There was a bit of a fuss, but perhaps he's forgotten all about it.

He does think he is fooling people, and, unusually for him, he is absolutely correct. At least 40% of the electorate believes every word he says.

Jimmy Carter Reveals New Goal Amid Hospice Care

As his 100th birthday approaches, former President Jimmy Carter revealed that his milestone birthday is secondary to being able to vote for Democrat Kamala Harris against Republican Donald Trump in November's 2024 presidential election.

According to a report published Saturday by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Carter told his son Chip this week, according to his grandson Jason Carter, "I'm only trying to make it to vote for Kamala Harris."

Carter turns 100 on October 1. The former president entered hospice care in February 2023.

Jason Carter also told the AJC that his grandfather has been "more alert and interested in politics and the war in Gaza" recently.

I strongly suspect that Trump's grave will end up with the same protective barriers that were put around his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame after large numbers of people let their dogs urinate and defecate on it and a guy took a pick axe to it on two different occasions.
 
You gotta love Donald. This man NEVER EVER EVER stops lying. My latest favorite slew of Trump lies was about crowd size.

If you are unaware, Trump just held a rally in the same venue as Kamala did in Atlanta last week. And of course Trump said that the crowd was larger for him. But video and photos show the opposite was true.
