Just read..it's up at all the newsites..about the blow up in the Democratic caucus today and AOC saying she has a list of moderate democrats she is going to try to primary in 2020.
Nice going, guys. Lets drive the moderates out of the party and reelect Trump.
Let's snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory once again.
And AOC is becoming really arrogant. All the media hype have gotten to her and she has an inflated opinion of herself.
I know you got your own comic book, AOC, but in real life you ain't got any superpowers.

She endorsed Justice Democrats.

Justice Democrats put her in office.

Her Chief-of-Staff is one of the founders (was also high up in Brand New Congress).

Why does she have to be "arrogant" or "have an inflated opinion of herself" to make this move?

What does she owe career Democrats? They didn't put her where she is, she did (with Justice Democrats and Brand New Congress).

Also, the center is not doing so well across the whole OECD, so I'm not sure why there's this certainty that middle-ground centrist technocracy is going to beat Trump. In fact I think that's the best course of action if you want to see the same thing that happened last time.

Finally...

What are you doing that's so damn important to help the cause?

I mean besides hurling pejoratives from behind a screen?

For the record, I'm done with my candidate's Charter and Bylaws, now moving into Policies and Procedures for staff once we start hiring. We'll be sending in the FEC forms sometime in March. Platform working groups will get filled, literature written, doors knocked on. It's game time.

My candidate has met with Our Revolution, Justice Democrats, Brand New Congress, She Should Run, All In Together, etc, etc, etc, ad nauseum. There's quite a growing institutional backlash against the Democratic Party going on. AOC isn't firing a starting gun, she's just pointing out what's already happening.

We're going to primary a Democrat here in my flyover country district.

Jay Inslee makes it official: He's going to be the climate change president:

Inslee praised the young climate activists who have coalesced around the Green New Deal for their energy and their emphasis on communities, often poor and of color, that are on the front lines of climate change. It was true, Inslee said, and it also might broaden the coalition. But he still seemed to envision that the movement would soon be turned over to the adults. “They’ve raised the ambition level. They’ve married this to environmental justice. Now it’s my job and others’ to put policy behind it.”

More clarity on how "arrogant" AOC was yesterday:

(paywall)

First off, it was Pelosi who initiated the row by taking about 2 dozen caucus members to task for helping inject a poison pill into the bill that has been the leadership's main focus of late.

ETA: How about some ire for the 26 Democrats who humiliated their caucus on a signature bill? Are they driving a wedge in the party? Come to think of it, why are we calling a fringe minority of the caucus "centrists?"

“She said that when activists ask her why she had to vote for a gun safety bill that also further empowers an agency that forcibly injects kids with psychotropic drugs, they’re going to want a list of names and she’s going to give it to them,” Trent said, referring to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

So basically she's saying "I'm going to make you own your voting record."

Yeah, how dare she.

Uppity, is she?

So, we can all agree that the re-election of Trump must be avoided at all costs? Since AOC's wing of the party doesn't seem to be willing to back down, why don't the moderates move to the left? It seems like the only sane thing to do. That is, IF the Democrats are willing to put party cohesion and defeating Trump above all else, like they keep saying they are.

Have you even considered the possibility that a large part of US Dem voters are fed up with the impotent "moderate centrism" their party has been offering them for way to long, and now want's the Dems to move further left?

That maybe some USAians, after being utterly screwed over for so many years, want some actual change? Maybe they want a country that does not force them to choose between a centre-right party and a far-right party?

I suppose your answer is "no".

Yeahbut a moderate Democrat would still sign all the Bills the Democrats pass. A 4-8 year presidency does not produce long term change. The American pendulum swings back wildly if you jump too far left. We will get Trump II in 8 years.

We got a Trump after 8 years of a moderate Democrat.

I'll take the wild pendulum over the one that only wavers between the middle and one side.

The problem is the party is not a monolith and NEVER has been.

I was rattling off the list of senators to my sister today and got stuck on the final one. It was Elizabeth Warren.

It stunned me because a year or two ago I would have sworn she would be the nominee.

You should include people who weren't former politicians as long as they'll be in the debates such as Andrew Yang

Bloomberg said he won't run. seemed to get a dig in at Schultz in his statement

It will be interesting to see how many people end up in the debates; the contribution hurdle looks like it might not be too difficult to overcome in the internet era. As for Yang, if he starts to get some serious polling (so far his website is trumpeting anytime he gets 1% somewhere) I'll put him on the list, but for now I will stick with candidates with some elective office experience.

Bloomberg comes off, and Hillary ruled out her own campaign today.
