It is, and a LOT more than China. In fact, there were more than twice as many in South Korea than China.

In sensible countries, where people have regard for others, they stay at home.

In the land of the free, probably not.

Just when this hate of the United States start? It was a long time before Trump.

And we finally have confirmed case in Sub-Saharan Africa, with one in Nigeria.

But still no cases since 31 January in India...

NZ is due to report its first later today.

But still not a pandemic...

Who the hell is kidding who?

Today's sitrep from WHO isn't pretty. 700 new cases outside China, including 9 new countries.

I thought we were doing so well.

The number of active cases is dropping by a couple of thousand each day for the last ten days. The vast majority of that is due to people recovering, so we're doing pretty well.

That would look like good news if you didn't realise there is exponential growth of cases outside China.

Give it three days and the number of new cases outside China will outweigh the ones being cleared in it.

Videos all over facebook and IG, hawaii is wiped out for canned goods and bottled water.

Thank god for tap water.
Interesting possible link between the person who got infected in California and our government's treatment of possible infected people.
The staff members were sent to Travis Air Force Base and March Air Reserve Base and were ordered to enter quarantined areas, including a hangar where coronavirus evacuees were being received. They were not provided training in safety protocols until five days later, the person said.
The first U.S. case of coronavirus in a patient with no known contact with hot zones or other coronavirus patients emerged near Travis Air Force Base this week.
However, I'm prepared..

Australian doctors warn of overwhelmed public health system in event of coronavirus pandemic

“If 50% of Australians – 13 million people – became infected that is up to 400,000 people dying, almost 2 million people needing a hospital bed and 650,000 people needing an ICU bed.

“These are total numbers over the whole epidemic, which may last one year.”

I do not think Australia has anywhere near enough hospital beds. I think all non-essential operations will be cancelled soon. Just to make a bit of room for these cases. Then maybe convert holiday accommodation into hospitals. Either that or they start welding doors shut like they did in China.

Our local hospitals seem to be near constant capacity treating those with chronic illnesses. There was a segment on the local news concerning the ongoing flu season with added emphasis on the proper care of those afflicted with asthma. That can't hurt the possible upcoming fight against covid 19.

That depends on what they do instead: Do they stay at home? Do they go to the mall? Or to the movies?

In China they certainly don't go to the movies, because all cinemas have been closed. They don't go to the gym either (closed). Not sure about the malls.

People are generally avoiding going to busy places these days (or even leaving their apartments), though.

How the reaction will be in other countries in another question of course.

They won’t be going to Universal Studios in Japan either because that’s closing for 15 days as well.

As far as I know, gyms and cinemas are still open here.
