2018 mid-term election

Now that I get to seriously contemplate a near future where the Democrats cannot even take back the House with a historically hated President to oppose, what I dread more than anything is the next three months of the media staring at each other like slack-jawed idiots going "whut happen?" while continuing to credulously report every hateful syllable Trump craps out of his orifices.

(Most) voting rights have been restored to felons and greyhound racing has been banned (or will be phased out over the next couple of years to be more accurate) in Florida so that's something.

Florida polling was completely out of line with the results. Dems should've picked up the governorship, held the Senate seat and gained four or five in the House. Looks like they'll get none of those. Frankly, there's not much difference between the Senate candidates but DeSantis is going to be a despicable governor.

It may be a defense mechanism, but a lot of my identity is interests in things that relatively unpopular.so I have a level of comfort in popularity doesn't equal right. If you are a non believer (a common thing in this forum), I would find some comfort in knowing you stand up for something you are outnumbered 4 to 1. It might take the sting out of being outnumbered 51-49 in politics.

So? Take that, pollsters!!!

Polls I have seen said it would be line-ball or Red. And the governorship is not decided yet.

"Florida is too close to call" is pretty much written into the script at this point.

New York Times finally has their needle thing working on their website. Predicting a 232-202 finish in the House at this time.

So far looking like Dems take House and Reps gain a bit in Senate. Dems lose a few of the races that got national attention in the South. The narrative would be there wasn't a "wave". They seem to lose the expectations game often.

Whew, the House looked dicey for a while there.

I hope they are kind enough to warm and lube the probe when they jam the microscope up his ass.

Sorry, no more premature victory pronouncements.

Which would be an odd narrative because it's starting to look like it's going to go almost exactly as the polls predicted.

I came across this on the Democratic Underground site, but it appears that a major "News" channel has stated that the Dems will take the House.

Considering the nature of the channel in question, it is interesting that they have posted this on their website.

Fingers crossed that they did not "jump the gun" ...

It's shaping up a lot like the Virginia election in 2017. A popular vote win that translates to only modest gains in the legislature. The end result will be a Dem house and Rep senate due to the senate map that was up for reelection.

Colorado's Jared Polis will become the country's first openly gay Governor, CNN Projects.

Ted Cruz. The most disliked politician alive wins.

It is a puzzlement.

At least Kobach has been soundly reject. Also, congratulations on your appointment to AG Mr. Kobach. Senator Graham please join Governor Christie in the I sold my soul for nothing lounge.
