Really? I don't see why anyone would really want them. Even governments. Although I understand why they do. If one has them, then everyone must.

Besides the fact no one here is probably qualified to even handle one.

Right now, the law only really impacts the collectors. It'd be better to actually do a decent job with background checks and enforcing other gun related laws. Bumping up the penalty for violent felons who posess a gun would make more sense than a pretend ban. BTW, I haven't shot a gun in over 10 years (I'd hate to guess the price of shotgun shells now), so I'm far from being a gun nut.

Good, that's easy. The NCIC instant check is in place and it seems to be working well. There is also 'Project Exile" (backed by the NRA) that increases the penalties to any felon in possession of a gun.

I think Shells are about $6 for 10 rounds. I haven't bought them in a while myself.

Well the current wave of '10 - 20 - Life' laws mandate a life sentence if one uses a gun and someone gets hurt in the commission of a felony...that kind of sets a ceiling beyond which 'bumping up' isn't going to make much material difference.

No. I don't. Call me looney, but I think allowing passengers to have guns on planes would allow a greater probability of terrorist attacks on airlines. I know, I'm weird, but that's what I think.

I don't think so. We could require a valid CCW permit. I don't think it would allow more terrorist any more than having more guns on the street allows a greater probability of bank robbers.

What terrorist would board if they knew a good number of the passengers could be armed?

since a terrorist would be interested in taking down a plane it seems a crew of them shooting up a plane in mid-air would have a chance of doing just that regardless if other passengers are armed or not. Planes are pretty sensitive pieces of equipment.

and who will save the peanuts!!!

I don't believe some wild west shoot out would happen. People who are interesting in saving their skin don't shoot up the plane they need.

So I take it by that you don't belive the pilots should be armed nor should there be Air Marshals?

You can invent the first peanut parachutes to save the little critters.

1) make up a team of like-minded terrorists (promises of eternal supply of booze and virgins is good for this).

2) All get legal CCW licenses carefully and separately.

3) All buy legal weapons of choice, plus suitable legal ammo.

4) All buy tickets on the same flight - make sure it is a flight suitable for your "cause".

5) Legally board the flight.

6) Consume peanuts and drinks, taking care not harm each other with plastic spoons.

7) ...ummm, you can guess the rest...

With the proper training I'm for arming pilots. Also, I'm all for air marshalls. Still against civilians and bad guys having guns on planes though.

peanut parachutes? that's a nutty idea. but they should only jump out of the plane if they are in danger of being asalted.

Good idea.

1.The muslims don't drink.
2. Only resident citizens (residency Exception for Texas) can get a CCW and that's after a background check, fingerprints, and mugshot.
3. Only citizens can buy guns legally, and that's after a background check.
4. There are limitations to the ammo and gun you can buy even for citizens

It's easier for them to get a driver's license. It took 3 months to get my CCW.

I don't know about civilians either. Some extra training would be needed for them to do that.

Hopefully you're not allergic to the peanut parachute. Once you get past the hull, you would just have to open the little package and drop. If it wasn't simple to use they could get in real jam.

People who are interested in saving their skin don't ram jumbos into half a million tonnes of World Trade Center. Makes you think, don't it?

CCW permits. Funny. Passports are difficult documents to be simply granted. Took me weeks to get mine. Guess what- they can be forged. Medical qualifications- take years to get. Guess what- they can be forged. What makes a CCW any different?
