Hah! I can see you've not spent a Saturday night in Bahrain...

I assume they don't because it's a sin for muslims.

2. Only resident citizens (residency Exception for Texas) can get a CCW and that's after a background check, fingerprints, and mugshot.
3. Only citizens can buy guns legally, and that's after a background check.
This assumes citizens cannot be terrorists. It also assumes terror-minded citizens would not pass a background check. Does the name Timothy McVeigh ring a bell? IIRC he had no criminal record. Sure, he did his deed with a rent-a-truck full of fertilizer, but it is not beyond the realm of comprehension to imagine similar like-minded "patriots" hijacking an airplane.

Only some Muslims aren't allowed to drink, just as some Christians aren't allowed to drink.

(just out of curiosity [don't mean to hijack])Can you provide evidence of that? Particularly, which sect of Islam allows alcohol drinking?

That's a risk the government is going to have to take.

No...that's a risk us poor b@stards on the plane would have to take.

It's not a matter of which sects, it's how orthodox you are. Consequently, it would be too difficult for me to provide a link that says, "I'm an unorthodox Muslim and I drink." You'll just have to take my word for it when I say I have Muslim friends who get just as drunk as I do. Or, if that's too much of a stretch for you, take a look at Crimresearch's comments.

I believe you'll also find that the 9/11 hijackers indulged in a drinking binge the day before the WTC attacks (eg), which rather makes merphie's statement, 'I assume they don't because it's a sin for muslims.' look a tiny bit daft, even assuming I'm making the above statement up.

Apparently Allah cannot see one when one is getting sh*tfaced in Bahrain...sort of like a Baptist at a convention...

Definitely none of them do. Though I'm sure some Muslims do just like many christians have premarital sex.

don't have the reference I quoted this from but...

All Muslims must keep to the Five Pillars of Islam(Arkan)., the teachings of the Qur'an and the Hadith, and show respect for people and property. They must also dress decently, avoid mixing with the opposite sex, never touch alcohol or harmful substances, eat only halal food, and not give or receive interest on money.

Yeah, I know, some aspects of Islam are very attractive. Funny, isn't it?

Incidentially, Islamweb has many rulings on alcohol. If you look you will see that the Imams have many ways of saying "no". I actually stopped poking fun at them because many of their ruling make a lot of sense. What is happening to me?:D

Well, I've had Muslim friends that drunk and did drunks. I had a Muslim boss that smoked weed in Amsterdam. That doesn't mean they were doctrinally permitted to. So that really doesn't confirm your assertion that they were allowed to drink.

That doesn't mean anything. People go against the commands of their religion all the time. Can you provide doctrinal or scriptural evidence that some Muslims are allowed to drink alcohol?

my favorite part about the "religious" folk out there. basically they'll pick the rules they want to obey, disregard the others and still consider themselves a good muslim or catholic or whatever.

in my opinion, theyre just hedging their bets ("I'm not ready to entirely dismiss my religion just in case it's true")

Maybe I shouldn't have used the phrase 'aren't allowed', then. But, technically, Christians shouldn't be having pre-maritial sex and lots of them do. The important point is that you can't discount a drunken armed Muslim on board a plane under Merphie's CCW scenario just because the Koran says it's a no-no.

I agree.

Sure this can be a problem. But this is something that won't be controlled easily. If they want to do that then why even bother with a permit? Why not sneak one on the plane. Hell put a bomb in your shoes. Err. That's been done, huh?

Absolutely agree. In a discussion once with a religious person I pointed out some of the things that people do that is against the bible. (Like eating pork) Their reply was Jesus died for our sins so that doesn't apply.

I asked them to show me where god said he was joke in the old testiment and told them I thought it was nice to have a religion where you could do anything you wanted because some guy died a horrible death.

I tend to find most people have this attitude. It just goes into they obey what they want. After all if the bible was the word of god wouldn't we have one religion?

I'm glad it's expiring, because it was a useless law, there only to give the false impression of doing something.

On the other hand, given this article, I fully expect all the law enforcement agencies in the US to be unloading their garbage on us. I made the mistake of purchasing an ex-FDLE Browning long before the ban went into place, and it was the most useless firearm that I've ever used, let alone owned.
