Putin, Chavez Meet for Talks
Never mind the former empire's human rights abuses and murder during the cold war. Never mind that the former empire annexed half of Europe and helped separate families...
The Duma has approved the proposals put to them by President Dmitry Medvedev which propose extending the Russian presidential term from four to six years.
The changes still need to be voted on by the Federation Council, the upper house of parliament, and by regional legislatures, but given the...
OK, here is my prediction.
McCain gets elected thanks to a whistlestop tour of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. He catches a nasty cold at his inaugural. President Palin steps forward! (Remember Wm Henry Harrison!)
Putin, meanwhile, becomes tired of the fiction that he is merely the Prime...
Just read this fresh news on Cnn:
http://edition.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/europe/08/28/russia.georgia.cold.war/index.html
Please, read it, there is also a video.
I think it is obvious which one of the Presidential candidates Putin is referring to, and it is a fact that McCain is gaining on Obama...
This is an interesting article about Russia.
It's suggesting that we're verging on a new cold war (or at least a 'chilly' war) with Russia, as a result of our historical revisionism, and its translation into modern politics.
It's definitely worth a read...

Okay, selecting me as the MotY last year was stupid enough. And Bono the year before...
But this beggars belief. Did the puzzlewits at Time consider the possibility that their MotY might actually live in China?
Well, yeah...

Lots of work to do. I'm sure there will be some discussion on this later.
Also this little diddy was unleashed today as well:

Putin: " In 1992, Russia unilaterally ended flights by its strategic aircraft .. "
" .. to distant military patrol areas. Unfortunately, our example was not followed by everyone "

All very exciting. I am very glad Brown is standing up to the arsehat Putin.
It seems this is a conspiracy that actually has some evidence. Perhaps CTers should focus on this actual, real evidence, such as the Polonium (sic?) being traced back to Russia, and being high-grade stuff. Not proof...
Damn! Just when the surge was starting to work too . . .
We don't really have to worry though - we've got duct tape and plastic wrap for the biological terrorism, and we've got "duck & cover" for a nuclear attack. Thank God for our leaders! ;)

Now, as I understand it, polonium-210 is a high grade type of radiation that is used by people in high positions. At 'best' it is evidence for high-level involvement, at worst it is mearly speculation.
That said, it is far more plausible than the woo...
In an article by MSNBC Putin blasted the U.S. on multiple issues; the article said this,
"Putin’s statement at a Victory Day parade on Red Square on Wednesday was artfully phrased to be both blunt and vague — but political observers have little doubt he was criticizing the United States for...
My buddy Vlad the Mad Mk II just cannot be kept out of the papers.*
Even when he isn't arranging for journalists to be shot, he still makes the news as Boris Berezovsky speaks to the Guardian in England, about his plans to overthrow Putin by force.
He has no chance, but I find it interesting...
A few years back we had "Mad Vlad" who wanted to shoot all Jews with an "atomic gun". Fortunately, his insane nationalist party crumbled with Vlad and Yeltsin became President.
Now we have the good-looking, articulate, self-satisfied former FSB man Vladimir Putin, undisputed leader of...
Can this guy really be that out of touch? If so, I guess I understand now why he'd sell nuke plants to the Iranians.

Putin is 100% correct to tell these European "leaders" to stuff a sock in it. Notice that the US lends 100% support for Russia in this attack, while some in Europe want to try blame the victims and perhaps justify the cause of these unhuman attackers.

It's a breaking story and I have no link to provide but Putin is claiming that he warned of uncovered terrorists attacks against the US planned by Iraq.
So far no details to support such claims but I figured it deserves a thread as details come forth.
Does this help vindicate Bush or is Putin...
Can someone who thinks they have a grasp of the Russian mindset explain how Putin rationalises his demand that Iraq continues to be subjected to a trade emargo?
