It seems that with each passing day, we are getting ourselves (I speak mainly of the US and our NATO allies) deeper and deeper into this thing, taking positions that will be difficult to intake later, making commitments that we may come to regret. At the same time, the more I learn about...
A lot has been made in recent days about how this terrible stuff Putin is doing wouldn't have happened if Putin just feared the USA they way he should.
Some of the reasoning behind this is.....odd...
Some people seem pretty worked up about how bad Russia's recent actions in Ukraine have been. But they haven't pointed to anything Russia's done that actually sounds bad to me.
Every report I've seen/heard so far just says the Russian army has moved into Crimea, the Russian-populated part of...
In the credit where credit is due department: Sarah Palin was widely mocked in 2008 for her foreign policy comments on Russia, including her prediction that Russia might someday invade Ukraine. Remember the joke that she could see Russia from her house...
Would the GOP actually go so far as to endanger the world's safety from a nuclear Holocaust, by refusing to approve the new Start nuclear weapons treaty with Russia, just to keep a victory from Obama?
I'd hate to see this happen, but I think some GOPers are that hateful, calculating, selfish...

I'm sorry but I don't know what to say about this. Except this could be seen to be an aggressive action to Russia.
Chávez says yes to Russian base
Putin's Navy, Chávez's Ambition, and the Caribbean Adventure
Putin, Chavez Meet for Talks
Never mind the former empire's human rights abuses and murder during the cold war. Never mind that the former empire annexed half of Europe and helped separate families...
Somebody's going to be in trouble for making Hillary look silly.
The whole idea seems pretty silly to begin with, even if they had gotten the translation right.
Not a very auspicious start to the new relationship, is it?

The resurgence of Russian military power troubles me. The idea of their warships passing through the canal that WE funded...troubles me even more.
Time to awaken the Monroe Doctrine?
Amazingly Sara Palin's Alaska had an unconditional meeting with the Russians about them
"investing" in Alaska's energy reserves. Now what is this about? After reading this sounds like Sara Palin is selling Alaska back to the Russians or maybe she and McCain want to trade it for Georgia.
So much...
...and if not, how come this? It seems that Russia just might be justified in shooting down U.S. planes carrying Georgian soldiers back to their country from Iraq. I think we would if Pakistani planes were flying alQeda into Afghanistan or Iraq...
Or at least a separatist region/country that Georgia regards as part of it. This was in response to a Georgian offensive a few hours earlier.

I wonder how the situation will play out. Given that Georgia has quite close ties with both...
This is an interesting article about Russia.
It's suggesting that we're verging on a new cold war (or at least a 'chilly' war) with Russia, as a result of our historical revisionism, and its translation into modern politics.
It's definitely worth a read...
Putin: " In 1992, Russia unilaterally ended flights by its strategic aircraft .. "
" .. to distant military patrol areas. Unfortunately, our example was not followed by everyone "

Damn! Just when the surge was starting to work too . . .
We don't really have to worry though - we've got duct tape and plastic wrap for the biological terrorism, and we've got "duck & cover" for a nuclear attack. Thank God for our leaders! ;)
In an article by MSNBC Putin blasted the U.S. on multiple issues; the article said this,
"Putin’s statement at a Victory Day parade on Red Square on Wednesday was artfully phrased to be both blunt and vague — but political observers have little doubt he was criticizing the United States for...
To my mind this thread become more and more important from day to day. We are not enemies for about twenty yers already. And that is not bad.:)
But one can't say we are freinds, can him?
I have never been to USA and never spoke to USA citizen as well. And I'm eager to know what do you think...
Monsters.

HOW do you fight this? I'm at a complete loss.
There should be a swift reaction from the White House. We've got to do something.
Can someone who thinks they have a grasp of the Russian mindset explain how Putin rationalises his demand that Iraq continues to be subjected to a trade emargo?
