Who should run for the Dems?

Al Franken is 73. Let's focus on people who haven't been able to collect retirement benefits since 2020. The death grip boomers have on power is a big reason for the problems in this country

Yeah, so what? Even if Al Franken was dead or had dementia. He'd still be smarter than the fat clown.

The fat clown is 80, so ya. And the Republicans have plenty of people in the spotlight who are bellow 65. Are most of them ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ morons, grifters, and/or lunatics? Ya. But they're out there and they are taking up air time. And after someone like Greene or Boebert or Gomert is done screaming their heads off, slimeballs like Cotton or Hawley (who are just as morally vacuous but present better) come in and look like reasonable alternatives.

BTW, I'm not really disagreeing with you. I'm just wishing for something that'll probably never happen, but I think the debate between Al and the VP (you know, what's his name) would be hilarious and as epic as the one between JFK and Nixon.

Who wouldn't want to see that? Except maybe the fat clown and his maga weirdoes, but they're delusional anyway.

I don't need to tell you that voters at the ballot box have two fundamental thoughts in their minds as they make their choice; 1). The manner in which the man/woman they've chosen conducts him-herslf. 2). The manner in which the standing president has conducted him-herself. I hope you're not going to deny it. In the case a "dark horse" or an "iffy" candidate voters will choose him or her based upon the cock-up performance of the previous leader. Need I say more? Trump/Vance won ...... by a landslide! 🇺🇸
And yet they won less than 50% of the vote. Thats not a landslide. Its not even a majority.

So, 77 million people specifically wanted a mentally deteriorating rapist with mood swings?
2). The manner in which the standing president has conducted him-herself.
For all the criticism I have of Biden, I really have nothing negative to say about his personal conduct. I'm not sur e what you think turned people off.

Kind of have to based on the results.

A margin of 1.5% of the popular vote and averaging less than 3 points in the swing states. Fart less than what Biden did in 2020. Landslides aren't a thin in the modern era.

On it's surface, that doesn't sound like much of a challenge.

Which black lesbian transgender Jewish female socialist is gonna step up to lead the Dems in 2028?

Tell that to Bernie Sanders.
Bernie is an independent. If you want an example of a Jewish democrat, you'll need to go with Chuck Schumer. Bernie ran in the democratic primary a few times, but he is still an independent in The Senate (the office he actually holds).

I've seen that picture. There's no way the was his suit jacket. It would have been knee-length. I know he thinks wearing oversized clothes hides the fact that he is obese, but even that is too much. Also, whatever he is sitting on is black, not dark blue like his suit.

If the remaining sensible, reasonable Democrats determine the nominee, it will be Gov. Josh Shapiro, Gov. Roy Cooper, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, or Gov. Andy Beshear. But, judging from the mountain of angry attacks on the nine responsible, bipartisan, rational Senators who voted for the funding bill to avoid a shutdown, sensible Democrats are in the minority and won't be able to determine the nominee.

Newsom would be a GOP dream come true, given his miserable economic record, his mishandling of the LA forest fires, his record on denying parental rights regarding their children's gender, his admission that it's unfair to force women to compete against biological males while refusing to stop it, etc., etc.

They could nominate Ron Paul and people like you would all him Josef Stalin 2.0.

I'm looking at crowds all over the country. There seems to be some momentum. Will the young voters bother to show up 2028?
Will the Democrats capture that momentum? Or, will they finger wag it away to secure Mitt Romney's vote?

Give them something to turn up for. Cut the dead hands controlling the Democratic party in its doomspiral to "centrist" fellow travellership and give them something to hope for and they might.

We might get a chance to see how the Democrats perform running to the Left. Bernie seems to be anointing AOC as his successor. She has the name recognition, she has a proven ability to shake the money tree and her most likely rivals for the nomination (Buttigieg and Newsom) are a pair of boring white guys.

I wouldn't describe Buttigieg as boring... Sadly don't think US is ready to elect an openly gay president as I think he is very capable.

My issue with Buttigieg is he seems to be a robot built by McKinsey and Co specifically to run for office. He's a terrific communicator and has the right resume, but he would BSOD if he ever strayed from a neoliberal talking point.

Can you imagine how Twitter would react to the first dance at the inauguration ball?

This shouldn't be an issue in the Democratic primaries unless they do the "I won't vote for him in the primary because I'm afraid my neighbor won't vote for him in the general," bit. Let's remember, a lot of folks thought the US wasn't ready to elect a Black man as president twenty years ago. That said, I still think Buttigieg is boring--he had the second most boring cabinet job (after commerce). He does have conventionally good looks and that certainly counts for something in a party that skews female. It will be interesting to see what the primary schedule looks like in 2028; apparently Biden's effort to put South Carolina at the front of the line may not last past 2024.

JB Pritzker is making noises like he's running.

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker (D) on Sunday called for mass protests against the Trump administration and blasted “do-nothing Democrats” who have failed to mount a stronger opposition to the Republicans in control of the federal government.

“Never before in my life have I called for mass protests, for mobilization, for disruption. But I am now,” Pritzker said in his keynote address at the New Hampshire Democratic Party’s McIntyre-Shaheen 100 Club Dinner.
Not sure the Democrats are ready for their own overweight billionaire.
