"The $696 billion bill, which sets up the military’s 2018 fiscal year budget, passed by a vote of 344-81."

"The surprising section calls global warming “a direct threat to the national security” and instructs the Pentagon to create a report on how climate change could affect the military. It asks for a list of 10 bases that could be susceptible to phenomena such as increased flooding and rising oceans."

I'm cynical about this 180-degree change of the GOP stance on climate change. Maybe it is just because I form my opinions based on their behavior and rhetoric, but I could be wrong.

Yes you are wrong. What happened was the POTUS got a call from here:

The military does have a vital need to be fact-based. Myth and magic don't win any military battles in real life, just elections.

Trump was called by a website for the military and that is why the House of Representatives decided that the military needs money for climate change?

I doubt it.

Even if true, think they'll turn around on policies that actually make a difference, such as pollution, energy and environmental policies?

Maybe they didn't read that part. You know how these things go.

That could very well be the case. "Military good, more money for them, budget have big money, pass bill." It is possible that's about as much thought as they put into it.

They don't want to stop climate change, they just want the war machine to be ready for it. Billions into the pockets of billionaires. Problem solved.

No you missed the point entirely. Homestead AFB is in south Florida and would be directly affected by one of the results of AGW, rising sea levels.

The point being that while Florida might be able to pass a law barring state employees from considering AGW, the military is not bound by that silliness...as Hlafordlaes mentioned, "The military does have a vital need to be fact-based. Myth and magic don't win any military battles in real life, just elections."

No, you didn't post a relevant link to support your point. Also, can you show that House Republicans now believe that climate change is real, or are they just all about giving more money to the military?

This is akin to how many of the companies that deny global climate change publicly, nonetheless have detailed and carefully construed plans for how it will affect their business and what to do about it.
