Hi all, Dr. Trintignant here--AKA Scott. A friend and I have started up a new skeptical podcast called SkepTech. We share a lot of the same themes as other skeptical podcasts, but we're both big techies, and our aim is to focus on technological skepticism. There are great podcasts and websites focusing on medicine, biology, astronomy, and others, but we felt there was a bit of a gap on the technology end.

We're still getting a feel for doing things, and have nothing approaching a regular schedule right now, but I think with time things will come together. In the meantime, take a listen to what we have and let us know what you think. We need all the feedback we can get right now, positive or negative!

Our main site is at www.skeptech.net. We have an RSS feed here, or you can just go to the page and click the RSS button in your browser. Theoretically we're also on iTunes, but for some reason we're not showing up right now. We'll fix that in time.

Thanks for listening!

Ok, I've listened to the first three. I'm liking what I'm hearing. The problem is that I have a hard time hearing one of you, and the other damn near takes my ears off. I'm not sure which is which yet, that'll take a few more podcasts, but one of you needs to get closer to the mic, and the other further away.

Other than that little quibble, it's a good show. Enough overlap with the other skeptical/science to make it fit, but not so much that I'm listening to five versions of the same show.

The interview with the physicist from Princeton was very welcomed. I'd been hearing about all the complaints about the LHC, but I'd not heard anyone go over if and how they were crap.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the constructive criticism (and the compliments)! Post-production is still something we're working on. We're trying a few strategies, but our latest episode uses Skype (with a lot of editing afterwards). Unfortunately, our recording method makes it hard to balance recording levels. But, we still have plenty of things to improve in this department, so I'll make volume adjustment a priority.

Glad to hear you liked the LHC bit. The prof was very interesting, and it was great to hear such a detailed response to the issue. It's the kind of thing you know is crap going in, but proving that comprehensively required more detail than I was expecting.

We're working on lining up more interviews, so keep checking back. And please send us any other feedback you have, or news/story suggestions.

PS: I'm the loud one :-)

Ah, there, that's better. :p

After I wrote my post I went to your site and realized that I listened to them out of order. I'd thought that the LHC show was the latest. But nope, it was the one about the Mosquito Box. That'll teach me to indiscriminately put them on my player and not look at the title.

Nice job guys! I'm just working through them now - but I think the tech-skeptic connection is most excellent. I think you have made a fantastic addition to our podcast selections as skeptics!

Glad you like it! We definitely enjoy doing the shows, and appreciate all the feedback we've gotten. As always, feel free to email us if you have any suggestions. Ep 5 should be up next week, and we have an interesting and well-known guest, so keep an eye out.

This sounds like an excellent podcast. I'm an undergrad IT major, and I'm always trying to figure out some ways to use my computer nerd powers to further the cause of skepticism. This show sounds like just the kind of thing I've been looking for. I can't wait to check it out.

If you're interested I'm working on starting a podcast of my own. I'll be co-hosting it with a friend of mine who's a PhD. student in computer science. We don't really have a specific topic that we're going to focus on, though. That may or may not have been a bad decision, but really I just didn't like the idea of having to limit the kinds of things we could talk about. I just decided we would talk about whatever we enjoyed and found interesting. Since we're both into computers I imagine the show will have a lot of tech content, but I'm also going to try to work in skepticism whenever I can.

If you want to check it out you can go to the website at www DOT falsedichotomies DOT org (sorry, apparently I don't use the forum enough to be allowed url posting privileges :( )
We've just got the website and the blog up for now, but we're recording the first episode this weekend so it should be up pretty soon. I'd be really interested in getting feedback about it so if you do listen let me know what you think.
