Is there some benefit to Google Chrome? I keep getting ads.

Also, I tried to listen to music on youtube, but it is playing at such high speed that I can't slow it down!

Thanks!

What do you use to browse the internet and post on the forum if you don’t use Google Chrome?

Firefox?
Safari?

I have been using Firefox almost exclusively for years, so I see no benefit to Google Chrome. On very rare occasions, there have been websites that required GC, and I can start it up if I need to. But I haven't for quite a while.

I use chrome on a phone. I learned that by disabling GooglePlay the ads were also disabled.
I do not know if that works on computer based Chrome but it's possible on Android 6. 9 and 11.
Instead of adding software the offending software is disabled.

I have an Android phone and a tablet (so old you can't update it any more but it still works), and on those I use Chrome because it seems to agree with Android better, but on Windows I use Firefox, which has always done OK. I can't remember when I last had a problem, but my computer has Edge too, so I can try that when something doesn't behave.

Firefox has a really annoying bug where sometimes if I quote a post in ISF the quote is blank. It's still there after several years.

It also has a bug where the copy text option is grayed out sometimes but I hope they have fixed it now.

On YouTube, the Playback Speed options are in Settings, which is the cog symbol in the corner of the video screen.

I see no reason not to use the default browser for your operating system. Edge on Windows and Safari on MacOS are perfectly serviceable for the majority of purposes.

I've noticed something annoying. I set up Startpage as my default search engine in Firefox and Chrome. For some odd reason, I stil lget ads in Chrome and slightly different search results.

Weird. I do not get any ads from using Chrome. The closest I get is that certain websites have ads. But that is a function of the website, not Chrome itself.
