Sarah Palin: I told you so!

I haven't the foggiest. I'm just entertained by Sarah Palin's much derided comments actually turning out to be prescient (although I doubt that Putin would have hesitated to invade with a President McCain or Romney in the White House).

But she wasn't "prescient". Prescient means having an insight into a situation. Palin says a lot of things, most of it unintelligible nonsense. That something she said turned out to coincide with reality six years later...well stopped clocks...twice a day, etc. She certainly could not have explained the geopolitical issues surrounding Russia's relationship with Ukraine any more than she knew what the Bush Doctrine was or how the bank bailout was supposed to work.

I suspect we won't know what she prefers until Obama, makes his move then rest assured, his approach will be wrong.

And that's what blows her whining out of the water. Her entire argument is that Putin would invade because of Obama's "dithering". In reality, he invaded an area of mostly ethnic Russians, because of the overthrow of a corrupt president hthat he supported. Meanwhile, Palin, and many other republicans, has whined and attempted to block pretty much every use of military that doesn't involve a ground war with Iran, or BENGHAZI! after the fact.

In the credit where credit is due department: Sarah Palin was widely mocked in 2008 for her foreign policy comments on Russia, including her prediction that Russia might someday invade Ukraine.
Well played, Sarah Palin. Well played.

I had to read this a couple of times. And, I finally decided that if someone did have a schoolboy crush on Sarah, it might very well effect their perspective. So, here's some perspective.

In 1947 there were 500,000 Soviet troops in Poland. That was an invasion.
August 20, 1968, the Soviet Union sent 200,000 troops and 2,000 tanks into Czechoslovakia. That was an invasion.

I've heard of reports of 2,000 Russian troops at two airports in the Crimea. When the other 198,000 troops and 2,000 tanks show up, that's when you can give Sarah credit.

What? Scold them?

A non-inclusive list:

Add tariffs to Russian goods.
Block Russian goods from being sold in US markets.
Block Russia from using US networks.
Block Russians from entering the US.
Seize Russian assets in the US.
Give large numbers of advanced US military hardware to countries like Poland.
Support insurgencies places like Chechnya.
Use the considerable influence of the US to encourage countries like Japan, Australia and South Korea to impose similar economic sanctions.

And of course, the EU is going to do some combination of the above as well, however they also have the option of blocking Russian oil/gas pipelines.

Of all the comments she has made, and there are many, one turns out to prescient and that entertains you. You have set a low bar for entertainment. What would entertain me would be to find out what percent of everything she has said (during the 2008 campaign) were prescient.

Predicting turmoil in Eurasia is about as easy a predicting which direction the sun will rise.

Let's not forget what else she said in that very same speech!

Senator Obama has also advocated sending our U.S. military into Pakistan without the approval of the Pakistani government. Invading the sovereign territory of a troubled partner in the war against terrorism. We'll call that scenario number two.

He opposed the surge strategy that has finally brought victory in Iraq within sight. He's voted to cut off funding for our troops, leaving our young men and women at grave risk. He wants to pull out, leaving some 25 million Iraqis at the mercy of Iranian-supported Shiite extremists and al Qaeda in Iraq. By his own admission, this could mean our troops would have to go back to Iraq. Crisis scenario number three.

So in the same speech she derided the very strategy that nabbed Osama Bin Laden and warned that pulling our troops out of Iraq would lead to us going back to war there.

"Prescient" may be an overstatement here. Just sayin'.

Even the blind pig finds an acorn now and then.
Or something like that.

Try Immanuel Velikovsky; formulated a theory about Venus being ejected from Jupiter and used it to explain the miracles of the Old testament to boot. However he did predict that Venus would be extremely hot at time when most scientists still though it might be relatively temperate. Naturally his supporters used this to insist he wasn't a complete loon after all.

I suspect we won't know what she prefers until Obama, makes his move then rest assured, his approach will be wrong.

Now I am fascinated by the idea of hijacking her source of news and sending her a false story that Obama has insisted that option A is the worst thing America could do. She, of course, would champion option A on her twitter and social media outlets. Imagine the fun watching her backpedal when she finds out Obama supported option A all the time.

Are you suggesting that Sarah Palin was ejected from Jupiter? That sounds rather plausible. If the Earth were turned in the proper direction and she had a telescope she could indeed see Russia from her house there.

Now you damn liberals back off & leave our Sarah alone! Back in 08, she was channeling the spirit of Sylvia Brown, who, once she was "dead" (as atheists put it) travelled back in time from 2013 and inspired Sarah with The True Truth.

I mean, it's obvious! Only a liberal could be such a blind acorn!
