Presidential Primaries 2016

Seems to me the only question re: Hillary is: Who will be her running mate?

My guess is it'll be someone that the national public isn't intimately familiar with yet -- possibly a state governor or something. Despite liking the Elizabeth Warren possibility, I'm pretty sure it'll be male, just to serve as a proper political counterbalance.

Yeah, exactly. It's not the female thing; it's the it's the political celebrity thing. Warren is too well known, and practically an icon, already. Not a good fit for 2nd banana candidate.

Bill Richardson? Long-time Clinton ally, hispanic, not likely to overshadow Hillary.

Persona non grata. He had some sort of scandal eruption in 2008/9, as I recall. Plus, the very personification of Old Hat. Yes, I know that Biden was Old Hat already in 2008, but Richardson is just too flawed at this point.

Let me just express my fondest wish that P. "B." Jindal does come to join the swim. The toe he's been dipping in over the weekend has me giddy with excitement. Such entertainment value...

I vaguely recall some sort of scandal.

Seems he was never convicted of anything, but it would all be rehashed if he got the veep nod, so he'll probably keep his head down and they'll probably look elsewhere.

Thanks to puppycow, we know that D. Patrick is off the list for this cycle. We hardly knew ya.

The little bit that I've read says Ventura now lives in Mexico. I know that does not remove him theoretically from being prez but I think it practically does. I'd give him ye olde scratch-out.

Hey, hgc, looks like you have to add good ol' Bernie to the independent column.

Strange headline. Where does he get the idea that Tea Party types would support him?

Sanders said most voters support progressive policies, even if they don’t know it.

“In terms of fundamental economic issues: job creation, a high minimum wage, progressive taxation, affordable college education — the vast majority of people are on our side,” he said. “One of the goals that I would have, politically, as a candidate for president of the United States is to reach out to the working-class element of the Tea Party and explain to them exactly who is funding their organization – and explain to them that, on virtually every issue, the Koch Brothers and the other funders of the Tea Party are way out of step with what ordinary people want and need.”

Ah, I see! Someone just needs to explain to them that they are actually progressives who have been duped by the Koch brothers into thinking they are conservative. Good luck with that! :D

Thanks to the heads-up from SezMe, we're proud to add Senator Bernard "Bernie" Sanders of Vermont to the mix. He was kind of ambiguous in that article as to whether he would run as an independent, the alternative being for him to register as a Democrat and run in that primary.

I can't believe I made it this far and failed to include even a single morning television show host. Even though I don't think Joe Scarborough will run for president in 2016, he sure has become mentionable. Welcome to ol' Joe!

Why is Christie out for President? Holy crap I must've missed something huge...

But seriously, I didn't catch what disqualified him?

Looking over the list, I think I would vote for Joe "This is a big farging deal" Biden over any Republican currently.
